It was announced that action comedy manga “Kuroshitsuji” (Black Butler) will have a live action adaptation, starring Kamen Rider Kabuto's Hiro Mizushima. This will be Mizushima's first acting role in 3 years.
According to producer Shinzo Matsuhashi, Mizushima was the only Japanese person right for the part and if he can't comply, there wouldn’t be a movie. Finally after meeting with the actor several times, Mizushima accepted.
The series follows Sebastian Michaelis, a demonic butler who is bound by a supernatural contract to serve Ciel Phantomhive. In return, when Sebastian has helped Ciel finish avenging his parents' deaths, Sebastian will be allowed to kill him and consume his soul.
Filming is said to start in April with “Nana” director Kentaro Otani and “Tiger & Bunny” anime creator Keiichi Sato. The “Black Butler” live action film is slated to be released by mid-2013. The all-original story of the film is set 130 years after the manga.
Mizushima left acting after the live-action film adaptation of BECK, to pursue his writing career as Tomohiro Saito. His debut novel “KAGEROU” won the 5th Poplar Publishing Grand Prize for Fiction.
