few ways:
VirtualDub
a good video editing software to open it and save/render the file into something else
try playing using VLC (VLC is COMPULSORY to have on your pc anyway), and click repair when it comes up.
use file juicer if you're on a mac, that's your best bet.
recovered video files are most likely to be gone even after recovery though.
unless you're doing video editing which requires mov, don't use it. always always convert it into something else, like avi which is easily fixable (and better recovery percentage).
yes, tried vlc already... still fail to open the mov....
so, total not able to covert the mov file at all...
any other way?

What avi codec is best for editing and maintain back the quality?
At the moment I m using mjpeg(avi) which from my camera. And last render to mpeg2 or keep as mjpeg(avi).
My another camera now have a choice of avchd or mjpeg which is in mov. For mov, I convert it to mjpeg(avi) before edit. Cause my edit software can't regonise the mjpeg(mov) file. But quality look like a bit down.
yes, me using avchd setting to record video too,
the mov file was accidentally deleted,
though successfully recovered, but not able to playback any more....
