my ps3 tends to hang or freeze during the early load up at the xmb when i switched it on and i had to do turn it off via holding the power button. it doesnt happened all the time. i only get it on the first time when i switched on during any day of the time but it seems to be ok after the first boot. Its like the ps3 hasnt fully warmed up.
Im not sure if is the amount of stuffs i have. i have quite a number of psn games but i don't think thats the cause of it. i believe is a hdd issue but then again it can be a firmware issue. I just hope is not an internal hardware problem. btw my ps3 is the slim version.

QUOTE(shahreza2000 @ Nov 25 2011, 01:55 AM) its could be hdd issue since xmb loading freeze/hang.... have u try recovery mode? fix those ps filesystem, rebuilt database yeah i have done rebuilding the database, the file system, restoring it to factory setting and reformatting it. still the same. i just hoping is the hdd thats the main culprit. I believe anything else could lead to an even worst case scenario.

ok after much testing. my ps3 freezes one time only over an extended of time when its turned off. However it does not happen when i decided to reformat the hdd with no data cache, psn games, save files or anything else, just plain vanilla. It doesnt hang after i switched on after i left it off for a couple of hours. When i restored my back up, it freezes back.
I'm thinking theres probably some data that was on the backup has some problem. I know this started when i played dc universe online and that game has some occasional hiccups here and there with the lag and the constant data loading and at one point it hang and i had reboot the console. Hopefully i can find the main culprit behind this freeze x_x.

QUOTE(BabyfaceAsh @ Nov 27 2011, 09:45 PM) hi, guys may i know wat will happen if i wan to format my ps3 ? all the data (save files, data caches, accounts...etc) will be deleted. Pretty much out from the box clean. I believe however the firmware still stays. Are u having any problems that you want to reformat ur ps3?

u cant save the game files individually but u can however use the back up utility which pretty much back up everything including the games u have downloaded, save files, accounts. Remember to use an external media that is of FAT32. Since its a demo so im sure its ok to redownload from the psn store.

QUOTE(SSJBen @ Nov 29 2011, 05:16 PM) Yes it is alright. But do take note not to waste money on SATA3 SSDs as the PS3 can only utilize SATA 1.5. alright and how about the normal sata. its ok for the ps3 with a 3.0gb/s?

my ps3's hdd has some issues and i was wondering is alright for me to take the hdd alone to the service center instead of lugging the whole ps3 together. Its still under warranty.
