I'm having trouble with Ape Escape on the Move. The game keeps saying the sphere is out of range and the monkey net, slingshot, fan etc. is very hard to control as they are off centre. I've tried calibration but still the same. I have no problem playing using the Move in XMB as well as The Shoot Demo (the only game I have compatible to Move beside Ape Escape).

Warranty expired, bought long ago but never play much, just bluray movie once a while. Suddenly want to play games, 1 week only becomes this problem... sianz.

Found this link from qisahn ... http://qisahn.com/sony-playstation-3-parts-c-33_58 ... seems like its a time bomb for phat ps3 .. sucks.

Based on our experience, most "fat" PS3 die after 2.5 to 3.5 years of usage. Here's some of the common problems.

Unable to read disc
The lens is probably faulty. Repair cost is either $100 or $110. If you purchased that PS3 from us, we offer a $30 discount. If in the very rare case the motherboard is faulty, we will not be able to repair the set and will return you at no charge.

Hi all,

I have a ps3 fat version bought in KL, think its r3 version.

Never register warranty from day one.

Now it cant detect game / movie disc.

Anyone knows best way to fix? Should send to sony malaysia or shops? Was quoted rm200+ from shops for 1+week repair.

Where is sony malaysia located?

hey guys, i watched one youtube video about backing up data. the guy said that we need one external HDD and then plug into the ps3. and backup it up at the system settings there. that's it? your data backup already and ready to change to a bigger size of HDD for the ps3 slim?

any other additional steps?

definately go for the pega stand with cooling fan. for me i will always put my ps3 stand vertically because it is cooler compare you put it on the table horizontally. well.. that is my theory only la. haha

going by heat transfer methods, vertical or horizontal wont have any effect.but the surrounding should play a part for you to decide wch way to go if either way would provide any kind of blocking for heat to be transferred.

if the space you place it is open, then either way is ok.

Wanna own a ps3 console. Not desperate though. Still researching.

According to the following data (obtained through one of the links in OP's post):

Slim Model [Release]
CECH-20 [9/2009]
CECH-21 [3/2010]
CECH-25 [7/2010]
CECH-30 [7/2011]

A few questions from me:

1. Since newer model is always better, should I just wait for the next model?

2. If a new model is released this year, will the price be the same as CECH-30 model's, or is it more expensive for newer model? (Logically, new item is priced higher than old ones)

Thanks.

I don't think it matters much other than the size (160 or 320 gb).

I'm not sure but if I were you, a decent price is good enough, regardless of the size. Mine was a 250gb slim for about RM 1500 in 2010.

I got it from a Sony Centre.
