Anybody has real experience living under a metal deck roof?

If really good then maybe can strip the roof of tiles (sell to scrap yard) and install metal. biggrin.gif
Also more safe. Burglars cannot easily get in.

in brunei, all houses normally is built using metal roofing including the high end ones. under the roof, there will be a layer of insulation fibre (normally 2" thick or so glass wool) for heat and sound reduction purposes.

i've stayed in brunei for few years while working there and i can attest that the concept / effect is no different from concrete roof tiles. inside the house, not much noise can be heard. but if you happen to be outside the porch or in your master room when the rain starts to hit the porch roof, the sound can be unbearable (tik-tak like hitting the awning). but once the metal deck is covered completely with a layer of rain water, the sound somehow gets reduced.. and the best thing for owners are, break-ins via the rooftop will never occur icon_rolleyes.gif
