Though we didn't fix Astro, someone's bill in Hibiscus scheme was wrongly addressed to us in Banyan 1 some time back. Guess that means BSC has astro.
Now in puasa month, most Muslim food outlets in Desa Coalfields and 5 min. drive to Alam Jaya are closed. But good thing is in Desa Coalfields, the Ramadan Bazzar is open daily from 3pm to 7pm. There are about 11 stores selling all kinds of food. We were there at 5pm and still get fresh fried crispy ikan kerli, sambal asam, vege soup and some kuih. Also saw a big wok frying ... kuih, roast chicken wings... etc. we enjoyed our packed meals. For Chinese, Ong Kee in Dc is good but close on alternate Mondays. We have been traveling to and fro many times a week to Petaling Jaya. Our petrol and tol cost increased by around RM 200 a month for a 1.8cc car. This is ok considering how much more we save from monthly home instalment. We don't have schooling issue. Our trips are for shopping variety and food. Although food choices are ok in BSC from nearby Alam Jaya shops, Tesco and Desa Coalfields, we find the cleaniness of these places other than inside Tesco, unsatisfactory. The Ong Kee Restaurant is ok but there is a rusty decomposed car parked next door. Occasional strong wind can whip up fine rust dust or germs. A few rotting cars are parked outside the rows of shop there. Complained to local authorities already but nothing done in more than a month. Most of the shoplots surrounding there are not well maintained at all. Shop fronts look dirty!
As for Alam Jaya, food is delicious at Riza Rich and Temerloh but nearby 2 rubbish shoots bring foul smell to these outlets. There are many other outlets along Jln. Kuala Selangor serving delicious food but too near the trunk road, exposing food to dust and tyre dirt blown by strong wind! These outlets should be at least covered and air-conditioned for basic hygiene.π£ Entering Bandar Seri Coalfields is like heaven. It is clean and new. Hope the new shops there can render it self sufficient with many food choices at least. Restaurant Al-yusof is preparing to open with some renovation.π This post has been edited by Supreme1394: Jul 16 2014, 12:22 AM |

Edited post read as:
Cheap and easy travel: tol only RM 1.40 from BSC by using Guthtrie Highway to join Kelana Jaya LDP. Just set your GPS from: current location to Kelana Jaya LDP. Time taken: 34 minutes with normal traffic. Route: from BSC exit turn left to Jln J. Selangor, pass Penjara, 2 left turns to Guthrie, turn left exit when you see a signboard 'Kota Damansara' -go a short distance and exit left, when you see a sign "Jln. Sg. Buloh", turn left. Ignore a small left turn at the extreme left that is specially going to the Fella building, take the one next to it to Jln. Sungai Buloh - go straight pass 4 traffic lights then keep to the right lane heading to the 5th traffic light*, turn right where you see a yellow dome mosque on your right, petrol station Petron and Caltex, that is the right turn into Jln. Lapangan Subang, pass all the airport terminals and further up till you see a roundabout, go straight up the viaduct, see a big pale green glass building on the left ie. Sime Darby building, go straight further till you see 'Pusat Dagangan Kelana, turn left, turn left at next junction where you see MAS building on the left, turn left into LDP. You will pass Paradigm Mall and Giant Hypermart, then Taman Megah to 1 U or head right to Tropicana City Mall or further to Sri Hartamas Plaza Damas. Can eat, watch a movie and shop till you drop.. π. CAUTION : Some parts of the lapangan terbang road and jln. sungai buloh get slightly flooded when raining. *if you go up further and after passing by a few flower/landscape outlets, and turn right at a traffic light, you can head towards Aeon, or Giant Kota Damansara instead for grocery needs. QUOTE(clickNsnap @ Jul 16 2014, 12:23 AM) Thanks for sharing, Supreme1394. All the best to you. π If changing school cannot be done, it IS a problem. How to travel so many times a day up and down! Ours is only once a day.Actually, I prepared to move to BSC, I traded my 8+ years old Avanza for a Mitsubishi Mirage last year, the Mirage is about 35-40% saving on petrol than the Avanza. The main concern is traveling time during peak hours, especially sending kids to school and back to home. I am staying in Bandar Sri Damansara at the moment, it take 30-45mins (one way) to send one of my kid to school in PJ, I think it will take additional one hour from BSC to PJ during peak hours, there are many activities in the school, i might need to travel more than one trip a day... Further more, I have another younger kid in primary school with different schooling hours... I don't think I can handle it, unless I am a 'big taukeh' and no need to workΒ After thinking for 6 months... Decided to let go the Areca with very 'sakit hati'Β We like the BSC township and the houses, big and good value, but too bad and too sad... We cannot stay in BSC. Hope all BSCian enjoy staying there! QUOTE(HighwayCruiser @ Jul 16 2014, 02:22 AM) what is the current occupancy rate in BSC?...passed by this area (only from outside via Jalan Kuala Selangor) couple of times and this place looks quiet...was told by KLK sales staff that majority of purchasers are flippers... Some Banyan Phase 1 semi-ds are doing ongoing renovation. My neighbouring units are unoccupied but a look at the water/electricity bills partially sticking out from the post box have individual names on them. There are a few units on sale by agents claiming to be working for the developer. Interested can call KLK. Really big and spacious! This post has been edited by Supreme1394: Jul 16 2014, 10:50 AM |

QUOTE(clickNsnap @ Jul 18 2014, 02:23 PM) Thanks Supreme1394. Well, schooling is a very important factor to consider.I think BSC is ideal place for retiree or new young families, there will be new schools around BSC in the next few years and young families' kids can enroll the schools near by. Unlike my situation... with kids in primary and secondary school, a bit hard to change school 'half-way'. |

Yes, there is smoke and it is not good for health. I am staying there. But no problem so far due to protection by the good ones (I speak of my experience).
Not only smoke, at night there is tart foul smelling chemical released for a while from somewhere. Occasionally we also get a nice bread baking smell. Minus all these, it is good stay in BSC. This post has been edited by Supreme1394: Jul 23 2014, 01:11 PM |

I saw only one shoplot getting ready as Mamak outlet. I hope Bandar Seri Coalfields can have Chinese, Malay, Western food outlets so that we can have more choices. Since there are so many shoplots open for sale/rent, I tried asking my favourite Jojo Little Kitchen in SS2 to come and open one branch here.

QUOTE(nick khor @ Aug 18 2014, 12:36 PM) Most of Phase 1 houses at Bromelia and Banyan 1 were put on secondary sale after key delivery around May/June/July 2013, one can see the many banners on the fences. Few days back I saw many banners removed from Banyan phase I ie. semi-ds. Does it mean that they have been sold already? If yes, more residents will move in sooner. |

QUOTE(popgoestheweasel @ Aug 25 2014, 06:54 PM) We had wanted to make a straight line porch and back extension and the fee quoted was RM1,000! This is fee just to draw 2 short straight lines on the layout plan.New home owners may want to think over again: Calculate how long it will take to recover the total sum in renovation based on your saving capacity. If it takes years and you will live with financial worries eg. If there is risk on household expenses, especially taking care of health, your old age, affect quality of living, the humiliation of borrowing from friends to meet daily needs(I've been through) then ask again: for all the uncertainty, just to make a new house look nicer (different from repairing an old home), or to have bigger live-in space (I realised later that I was actually ok with less space that can make me even feel more cozy if I had done up the interior deco by spending less money), or feel proud when passer-bys admire... ' nice looking home... (Ya, but do I bother who stays there? My eyes are entertained.) But we are proud that others will envy us! Yes but not worth the strain that cuts the smile away. It makes you feel old and dries the spirit. It is simply not what life is all about. Having said these, I am for renovation if $ is not a long-term problem. QUOTE(hilmi.reapfield @ Sep 13 2014, 07:00 PM) Thanks, did a check at the unit's address. It did not look like a corner lot to me... Maybe more of an intermediate lot at an odd sized plot!To be more accurate, the side land is triangular in shape, and location near main road and pond.
