Proton Plans To Launch R3 Models For Saga, Pesona, Inspira And Exora

PETALING JAYA, Sept 13 (Bernama) -- Proton Holdings Bhd, the national car maker, plans to launch its R3 (Race, Rally, Research) models namely - Saga, Pesona, Inspira and Exora by early next year, said Head Motorsports Division Datuk Abdul Razak Dawood.

He said these models, built by the Motorsports Division under the R3 unit, were still undergoing the modification, prototyping and development processes and the prices were yet to be decided.

"The Proton's R3 models have their own special market especially people who are keen to have some uniqueness and looking for better performance," he said after launching the "My Proton Makeover" programme here Tuesday.

"We will sell these models in Malaysia, Thailand, Indonesia and Australia and also offer the body kits," he said, adding that about 80 units of the Satria R3 model had been sold this year.

Meanwhile the "My Proton Makeover" contest is part of Proton move to acknowledge and reward faithful customers of Proton. Those interested in the programme can register at www.protonVIP.com.

BMW has M, Mercedes has AMG. Proton butthurt, so make R3. Proton's "racing" R&D branch. lol

R3 is supposed to be the tuning arm of Proton. Something like AMG for Mercedes and M Division for BMW. The only great product they had was the old Satria R3 with 3 different stages of tune. And then they sort of waste our time with bodykits. And some not very marketable engine tuning parts.

Now they start to deal with whole works car. If its R3 that means it should be fast. AMG & M Division only deals with powerful cars. So in this case, if everyone heard about those turbo engines that is supposed to be sold by Proton, then it could be used as an R3 product. I doubt anyone would be easily fished again by bodykits. Giving that a lot of Korean cars giving out free body kits with some of their cars.

If R3 is gonna come out with cars with only bodykits and wheels, then their business idea is definitely not good. Because there are a lot of bodykit shops waiting to clone them with cheaper price. And no one would be the wiser.

So far R3 Satria/Neo got the most spotlight (and also the mods), R3 Gen2 and Waja only reworked the piping and suspension.

I have done some 80km/h around 100 to 120 degree corner. Lost traction, but still under control. all thanks to the cheappo continental tyre. If pakai bridgestone, wont have tat problem.

i dont look highly on r3 products even tho im using some performance parts from the r3 brand

r3 commercialize product on sale are just so so, but i have to admit those they use for their race car are damn powerful for example their neo and gen2 for the MSS race, MME, rally and so on. and those parts are not the same as those they are selling to us.
