I'm currently using GF2... They have removed the shutter release plug...

Is there any other alternative ways of using a remote shutter release?
Maybe control through the hot shoe?

yea.. that is the only option now... however, lets say you are traveling... you are taking a photo with timer yourself... the camera will be unattended for 10s or more... snatch thieves might just walk in and steal...

If you have a wireless shutter, you can snap a shot in less than 10s...

Stick a small metallic sticker on the front the the camera.. 14mm.. Camwhore style lo. I do that with dslr but looking at reflection from the lens

Bout the new oly 45mm lens, which one better for street photographing?

I'm still deciding to get pana 20mm or the Oly 45mm
*
Personally I feel 90mm (Oly 45mm) is too long for streetphotography. 40mm (20mm panny) or 35mm (Oly 17mm) is just about right.

Since the cup of coffee is not going anywhere... isn't it better to just drag the shutter instead of using a higher ISO speed.

One of the benefits of small'ish cameras is that you can rest them anywhere... on a bag... jacket... cups etc.

Those film SLR camera got B speed. This speed allow us to press and hold the shutter button to prevent shutter door close.

but in our digital SLR nowadays, where to set this thing??
*
Most decent cameras still have bulb mode wat... but in most cases.... no need to open until a few minutes kwa.... so since I'm almost always on aperture priority mode... so just set a nice low ISO.... a nice sharp aperture.... kasi rest the camera ... slap on a 2 sec timer.... exp.comp secukup rasa and shoot.

I don't like manual focus.

U mean compatibility as in lens?

Looking at how you guys upgrading lens making me worried that I'll spend more money on this.

That's the point of interchangeable lens. Different lens for different purpose.

With the f3.5-5.6 kit zoom lens, low light performance and "bokeh-ness" is similiar to fast compacts like the XZ-1 and the upcoming Fuji X10.

The zen of shooting with viewfinder and LCD totally different so this effects the outcome. VF feels more intimate while LCD (dare I say) more accurate in framing.

So, you're saying that EVIL and M43 are actually different systems right?

I did refer to certain sites via google, I still don't get it. Some say that they are the same while some say that they are different, please clear my head about this smile.gif

I was considering the D5100 from Nikon as the price seems affordable and it has great features plus the excellence in image quality(breath-taking), but when I ventured further into other systems such as EVIL & M43, I'm getting undecisive whether to purchase a DSLR.

What are your opinions about EVIL & M43? Will they become the future cameras and have the DSLRs phased out?
EVIL & M43 are very compact after all.

Panasonic Lumix DMC-GX1  seems to be a great device despite the limited kit lens(only two), on par with the D5100 Nikon or better?  rclxub.gif

Let's put it another way....

EVIL/MILC/ILC or whatever they call it is a category of cameras typically having a bigger sensor than compacts, have interchangeable lens and doesn't come with a mirror assembly.

Micro Four Third is just one system in this category. There's quite a few companies that is part of this system but only Panasonic and Olympus is active. Lens are interchangeable within the micro four third system... the lens will have a micro 4/3 logo.

Other EVIL/MILC/ILC/MILF systems includes Sony's NEX (E-mount) system, Nikon's 1 (CX mount) system, Samsung's NX system and Pentax's Q system.

Primary benefit of EVIL/MILC/ILC is that they are seen to be more portable and less geeky than DSLR's.

In terms of which is better... personally I prefer a DSLR + compact camera combo....though I'm following the developments with great interest..... YMMV... depends on the shooter.

my humble 2 sen...

1) first dog pic... if you can crop out the feet of the chair then it'll be cleaner. It'll work well too if you shot a bit wider to include the whole "ball" shape of the chair's feet.

2) second dog pic didn't work for me.

3) Perhaps you can use another format as 16:9 look kinda long on portrait orientation.
