-New 16mp sensor with improved ISO performance
-5 Axis IBIS
- Weather and Dust Sealed
- Built in EVF
- Claimed Better/Faster Autofocus
What's important is how good the new 16mp sensor is. The EP3 is one fine camera of its own but IMHO, its greatest flaw is the low ISO noise tolerance. I expected far better ISO performance from it.
The OM-D looks promising in filling out EP3's flaws while integrating alot of very useful features found in their EPL-series. ie, the Flip LCD display although I hope Olympus found a way to deal with the OLED's color inaccuracy.
As mentioned, the EVF is also a major crowd pleaser as not only do we get a very sharp n accurate viewfinder in it, it also helps stabilise the camera while we shoot. This again I found slightly problematic on the EP3 as it is alil too light and when I take photos on it, the cam tend to shake alil. More over, the new 5 axis IBIS will add more steadiness to the OM-D.
All in all, for me, as a EP3 user, the OMD (EM5) is really Olympus way of saying "Look! We've heard all ur most eager request and demands. Threw them mostly into our cauldron of magic and waaalaaa! We give u the OM-D." At least that's how it looks like at the moment on paper. We'll only truly know how great it is upon pratical n real time testing!
