jus a reference

oly om-d e-m5 pre-order price

body - sgd1488
body + 12-50 - sgd1888
body + 14-42 + 40-150 sgd 1988

prices are in singapore dollars.
conversion rate abt 2.4

forgot to mention, pre-order now and u can get either the mmf3 adaptor or a 32G sd card free
*
Malaysia camera prices quite similar to US price after conversion. At the present
exchange rate those who can wait a bit after local launch will pay street price :

1.> rm3K for body only
2. > rm3.9K for body and 12-50 lens

This is just my wish and prediction only. whistling.gif

Wow, I received the pre-order information as well and the retail price is quite pricey.

Wanna ask you guys, will the street price of the camera differ a lot from the retail price?
*
My estimate of street price is US price X 3 then less 10% = malaysia street price.
Dont believe me? Look at the retail price of the battery grip RM999 ( USD price
is 299).
The MMF3 is not free. It cost USD179 so they added rm500 to the package.
(actual camera + lens retail shud be USD1299 x 3 = rm3900.00)
I will wait 3 mths and get Camera +lens at less than rm3.5K lol. biggrin.gif

no Rm3.5k with the body but free MMF3..pretty worth it if u take MMF3 instead of 32GB memory card.

Too bad i got MMF2 already cry.gif

Waiting other shop start selling and hopefully can get around RM3k for body
*
Instead of free MMF3 give me the battery grip at 50% discount. Now
that will be great. rclxms.gif

After reading 75 pages of this thread, research for weeks, I finally decided to buy oly EP3. I have few more questions to ask b4 I buy (maybe this weekend)
1. What is standard items inside the package?
2. How to check if the camera is new? Is it check the shutter count? If yes, how to do it?
3. I'm newbie into photography. I mainly take pic of my bb girl, travel, food. What lens u recommend to buy beside the standard kit lens? Or should master the camera and skill first b4 buying lens?

Thanks.

If bb girl stand for baby girl and not big beautiful girl then you might
need to consider cameras with tilt/flip screen like E-PL3. Otherwise
you will be on your knees and belly alot shooting them. tongue.gif

Hi all,

Yea! I am thinking of grabbing either EP3 or EM5 now. *headache* EP3 costs Rm2800+ whereas EM5 costs Rm4500+ at market. Arrrr...Rm1700 different.

My question is, is it really worth it to spend another RM1700 to get EM5?? U know la, we malaysian very calculative. Help help
*
EM5 for sure. I would find some ways to get the extra rm1.7k or wait 2 or 3 mths for
price to drop smile.gif

Hi,

Ah! True too. Still yet to know what's the retail price once it's distributed in market. Hopefully it's few hundred cheaper.

But just a question, do you think it's worth it to top up Rm1700 for the add on feature? Any huge difference in terms of features upgrade?
*
If you want my bias opinion then the EM5 is twice as good as the EP3 so
worth the extra. He he, I think the EP3 is too feminine looking. Like fasion
accessory. EM5 is more macho. Look like camera. tongue.gif

QUOTE(sadaniel @ Mar 4 2012, 04:59 AM)
because the actual price for this lens if u buy them individually is RM1400. that's why forumer thought they could sell it for higher price. truth is, they can never sell this lens close to the actual value as there really is no value with the lens.

by no value i mean that almost all people who bought the camera with dual kit lens will find no use for the panasonic 14mm (or 17mm for olympus and 16mm for nex) despite its small size, also,  the performance barely differs with the zoom lens that possibly already cover it's range. so they decide to sell this to buy a more useful fast lenses such as the olympus 45mm f1.8 or the all time favorite panasonic 20mm f1.7 which has about the same price range with the actual price of the 14mm f2.5 if u buy it individually.

the thing is, many people taking the advantage of buying the dual lens kit in hoping they could sell the 14mm and keep the zoom lens as a mandatory backup lens. I can name 6 people (maybe more) who wants to sell the lens in the Garage Sales with no luck because they put a high price on it (even if its already half of the original price). Including me  rclxm9.gif

I will sell my 14mm for a cheap price. If i feel regret of selling it, i just have to go back to the forum and find (and negotiate) a buyer who can sell me for cheap price. there willl be a lot of them selling it anyways. if there's none, put up a WTB thread somebody will PM u. Trust me.
p/s: I just woke up and I feel like writing stuff, hence the above  laugh.gif
*
Interesting , When I wake up I just want to pee. biggrin.gif . Anyway good analysis on a lens
I am keen to buy. Recent ebay price for this lens black version brand new buy it now is
RM492. Add shipping rm90 so total rm582. Lowyat sellers here are asking buyers to make offer.
I think RM600 shud be fair if it is like new with warranty but they want more. hmm.gif

Dpreview Studio Test Samples published today seem to claim that OM-D
is equal or better than SLR like D7000, 7D, K-5 and even Leica M9. hmm.gif

I think that's what they are saying. whistling.gif

Not many GF3 owners post here and now GF5 is about to hit the market. Claim
that ISO performance can match Canon 7D and 60D. rclxms.gif This camera body
is getting smaller than the lens. Didn't like the GF3 rounded hump. Now flatter
on GF5 looks better.

This is Part1. There are 4 parts in total

If after viewing this guy's EP3 photos drool.gif and you don't rush out to buy the camera, then
you are never going to do it ever. hmm.gif

Don't expect too much from the EP3 with standard zoom though. whistling.gif

General walk around lens which cm with weather seal.
*
Weather sealing is a double edge sword bcos water cannot get in then it also
cannot get out. Care must be taken when changing lens otherwise water get
trapped inside and cause condensation when there is temperature change.
Worse case scenario fry the circuits, fungus etc. Early test indicates OM-D
is affected by this. whistling.gif

You should be happy bcos they look perfect together even with the hood.
The red dot is very striking biggrin.gif
The "long and thin "12-50mm standard lens look ugly on the OM-D. hmm.gif

agreed.

both are worth to get. with 25mm, you get a prime lens which is good for lowlight (and in case you need to zoom in/out, you can always get additional mount and still get low light benefit). your 14-150 is most likely used in events, it is very good if you need to move around and snap pictures. i'm already using kit lens + zoom lens, it takes time to change between lenses thus in events, alwez lambat capture picture one
