I've been thinking about this too for some time already. I would suggest you to get E-P3 if you dun wan post-processing, their JPEG looks nicer, but E-P3's sensor is old already compared to the latest GX1 sensor. I will get GX1 if it comes with X lens and lower price.

my bro in-law got the gx1 and i had a chance to place with it.
i dun like how u hv to share the dial for both shutter speed and aperature.
i stick with my ep2 for now

I played a bit with the GX1 + 14-42 X since a friend bought one.

It seemed to tick most boxes for me... AF super fast... good ISO1600.... but I think Steve's right... somethings not right.. doesn't feel alluring like the GF1 did when it was new... can't really tell what's wrong.. the mojo is just not there.

i tested ep3 and 14-42 kit lens and gx1 with x -zoom lens. The color obviously ep3 is better. But what is bothering me is the AF speed when using the touch screen to take pic. The EP3 is like iphone touch screen..touch and it will zap ...but the GX1 is like an old touch screen technology..touch and it would not response most of the time..have to touch very hard. and the AF speed is slower when using the touch screen on the GX1. Other than that i notice there is a buffer issue with GX1...it lag cause the buffer not enough to store the files before it writes to the memory card...

the difference above is not obvious when you are just using GX1 but if you compare them side by side...the difference is very obvious...

Well... the PEN has a touchscreen and the Panny has a pokescreen. That's the difference

I damn like the +/-5EV exposure compensation on the GX1 (veli good for those super high contast shots) and the ISO1600 (check out the G3's RAW comparison in dpreview especially the watch).

yeah i like GX1 sensor but other than that i prefer ep3.. and the new OM-D that is going to launch somewhere next month make the choice harder...

Yeah, I feel the same, seems nothing much impressive except the new sensor. Didn't have chance to test X lens as not in M'sia yet

E-P3's touch screen is capacitive and GX1's resistive slightly harder to press but lesser lag than E-P3. I'm used to Lumix menu, E-P3 looks a bit weird to me haha.

If only Olympus builds a new camera based on the new sensor?

That really make me confuse!

I check by counting on the filenames generated, rough estimate.

Take my GF1 for example the folder in the SD card:

DCIM->100_PANA->P1000001.jpg <-- first file run till P1000999.jpg (meaning 999 count)
Then it creates another folder with name --> 101_PANA. Then it will be P1010001.jpg You get the idea.

So every folder has 999 files, not sure about video files though

Buy with twin lens more worth for $$, X lens more worth if u like the size of it, usage is still the same la
