I did a search but could not find any related topic.

Anyway, I don't know if anyone have countrified this or not but here it goes. I am having problem with the arrangement/sequence of the pictures which I sync with my iPad. I would assume that it should follow the same sequence as what is in the computer (basically sorted by name), but it seems that the iPad has an idea of its own.

To make things a little worse, the file name is not shown when viewing photos on the iPad.


I tried using an app called Photo Privacy which allows you to sort pictures by size, name, date, etc., but when I choose "sort by name", it still does not sort correctly. Using that app, I can see that the name has been change to something else.

I hope my above explanation makes some sense.

When you transfer photos to the iPad using iTunes, the process abandons whatever filenames you may have used on your computer and replaces them with semi-random file references on the iPad. The order they are assigned is typically the chronological order of the photo's time-stamp. If you sync from iPhoto, there are things you can do to adjust this. But if you sync from a folder on your computer, you're stuck with this. Either way, once the photos are on your iPad, you are pretty much stuck with whatever order they are placed in.

There is an app called Photo Shack Pro that allows you to organize your photos any way you want once on the iPad. It does this without actually duplicating any photos, and while keeping all of your photos in your iPad's Photos Library so all of your iPad apps can still get to them. You can also create your own libraries, with your own albums, holding the photos you want in the order you want them in. It also allows you to title and comment your photos, zoom into full resolution up to 16 megapixels (far greater than the native "Photos" app supports), and even look through the photo's embedded detailed metadata (great if you're a professional or avid photographer). Added on September 22, 2011, 6:28 pmHuhu... I sort of solved my problem.

for those who may be facing the same problem, you can try to download a free software (for windows) called iTag. It basically lets you change the time/date the picture is taken (i recommend you only do this to a duplicate file).

What I did was I changed all the time/date for all my picture files had the same time/date. This would then "force" the iPad to sort the files based on the name. A point to note though, naming your file 001 is the same as just 1. So you need to put an alphabet infront of the 001, e.g. A001, so that it won't sort the pictures as 1, 10, 11, 12... 2, 20, 21... etc.

So, yes, you may need to rename ALL your files. But so far, this is the only free method I have found

Try buy apps name photomgrPro. It can create directory and import from you photo album. It even can edit caption for each photo. Very good software. Try it.
