Hi, I have got my quotation from a contractor on renovating my house. It's actually over my budget, so I'm thinking of taking some expensive items out. What do you think of the price?

Autogate (motor and cabelling only) = 3k

Extra plug points + lighting + aircon + fans installation = 2k

Walk in wardrobe with one sliding door = 8k

kitchen low cabinet (12 ft) + 1 tall cabinet (2 ft) + fridge cabinet (3 ft) + solid top = RM9.5k

kitchen wall cabinet = 1.8k

Island 4' X 3' = 2.3k

Splashback mosaics = 1k

Painting whole house (emulsion paint, interior only, house built up size 1800sqft) = 5k

Study table + Book cabinet (total 17 ft) = 5.5k (I think I'll first take out this, as 5k for a study is too much)

Oh, forgot this point ; the wardrobe is 13ft length. I also think the wooden works are expensive. My eyeballs nearly dropped when I look at the wardrobe's price. My friend told me this contractor's work is very nice, like show units, which is why I approach him.

I consider taking a contractor because other than doing the above, I need someone to do the cement work after installing aircons, splashback, install bathroom accessories, cabeling and plug points etc.

I tried to approach some contractors just for the cement works but they didn't want to take cause it's too small. Not to mention most bathroom accessories shops don't provide installation (or even contacts) for shower screens, mirrors etc. All the shops I visited asked me to get contractor to do these.

Sorry to hear that you got a contractor with attitude. What did you employ the contractor for?

It's not possible for me to let the contractor did all the above stuffs, cause over my budget already. Still need some money to buy aircons, fans and other furnitures.

Is 5K for painting interior of a double storey 20X65 expensive? I have not confirm with him whether this one include paints or not. I'm thinking to buy my own paint cause nippon still having promotion of 20% discount.
