Al-Fatihah to two of our friends who died in a car accident this morning. May their souls rest in peace.

Hi I am from tarc diploma in mechanical engineering and will be graduated on the coming August. I want to ask about the credit transfer, anyone here apply it before? How many credit can usually transfer for tarc diploma student? And what documents is needed and when can apply for the credit transfer?

Sorry for so much questions.
*
You should bring transcript and synopsis/outline for all subjects. Credit transfer normally done when sem starts, need to register and get a place 1st. They will look at grade of subject and the content of the subject. If grade > C and scope of subject is about the same, u dont have to retake the subject, credit is transferred.

Well of course not everyone got into those big shot companies.

I'm not sure at all about IT, but for engineering students I cant say about 80% of them got a job after 2-3 months of graduation(some got the job before they even grad because they applied earlier).

I'm doing my internship right now and I dont see the difference where people got their education from. Some from UK, AUS, some from monash, nottingham malaysia..end up getting the same salary and doing the same work as those from Uniten.

I really hope someone from Uniten IT can give eclipse_retro a review on Uniten IT course as I cant provide any solid information to him.

There are companies out there who have preferences on which university graduates they should give priority when recruiting. Different companies have different preferences. This can be based on:
- specific subjects/courses only that university offers
- general quality of that university graduates who are currently working in that company

Where ppl get education is important nod.gif . In your case, because the position is for fresh graduates, the salary and job scope are pretty much the same regardless where u graduate. But as time passed by, the managemement can tell who is performing better than the others (when promotion time, not equal anymore tongue.gif ), and if this trend continues, they know which university graduates they prefer for the next recruitment.

Well actually I've considered about UCTI/APIIT , but last Sat I went to UNITEN's open day , and attended a briefing by a lecturer . It sounds promising as they mentioned that final year student will be hired by big companies like Shell , Axon Mobile to work with them even before they(students) graduate .

But after reading the first thread , I have second thoughts whether to enroll in UNITEN or not .  rclxub.gif  rclxub.gif

If u decide to choose uniten, choose because of the program (quality of program, subject covered, etc). If u decide to choose UCTI/APIIT or anywhere else, choose also because of their program. Other issues, to me is not critical. There are NO universities or colleges that DOES NOT have problems .... parking, transportation, food, management issues, security, slow internet, student complaints, etc ..... its just a matter how bad is it, and I think uniten is not that bad.

Yes, there are top IT students hired by international companies rclxm9.gif , but so are other universities. Again, my advise, study the programs (includes facilities, teaching staff, syllabus, reputation, etc) from all the universities/colleges that you want to enroll, and choose which you think is the best program for you. Ignore all other issues. They are just daily obstacles that u normally face anywhere u go. BTW, those harsh comments on the 1st thread, are from the same person. Not sure why he hated uniten so much. hmm.gif You should have chatted with IT students during your trip to uniten open day. There must be some volunteers there.

what I did heard, the Suruhanjaya Tenaga (ST) certify the competent Electrical Engineer from this course only. Plusmore, nowadays if u want to work with Malaysia Electrical Company and TNB , this competence certificate is needed. If you is under electric electronic maybe the difficulties lvl to find a job is hard. I dont know in the future.

Like now, many engineers inside TNB themselves, which in Bachelor EE need to go to ILSAS every weekend to learn what they left out in Electrical power course to get the competence certificate. Otherwise, they need to find other company which not required this certificate.  icon_rolleyes.gif

y r u guyz asume dat arul94 wants to major in electrical power? E&E major also has its own strength, in communication, electronics, control & instrumentation, etc. I know many EE working in tnb, intel, altera, sony, maxis, huawei, etc. Besides, students major in EE has wider career scope compared to EP.

TNB engineer need that competence from ST . Its about today, not last time tahun gajah one  icon_idea.gif  brows.gif  Its up to you, whether want to believe it or not. But, I did work inside powerplant for couple of months. And I know whats going inside.  whistling.gif

The competency that u r refering to is the acknowledgment that u have the skill sets to operate or handle a machine/system/procedure. rolleyes.gif This competency cert is normally obtained after completing a specialized course, regardless major in EE or EP. Oh yeah, btw, I believe. notworthy.gif

Whatever foundation course you are in, you gonna study the same stuffs like others.
*
I agree. smile.gif doesnt matter foundie in EE/ME/CE/EP. subjects are the same. you can still change major when applying for degree. they ask u to select major in foundie so that they can estimate n control the no. of intake in each major. comm & comp is a new major. maybe they will ask u to choose btw foundie in EE or CC during registration. u can ask them, no worries. thumbup.gif

im wanna take electrical power....

but there r 2 uni, mmu and uniten....(private uni)

how abt mmu? (i have read a lot of comment abt uniten from this thread, just wanna take some comparison)

i heard abt mmu's education way is "think outside the box"?
how abt uniten?
*
i dont think there is a uni out there that tells the students to think inside the box. so, the education in both uni is pretty much the same. but since u r goin to major in electrical power, why dont u choose the uni that has strong links with power companies and has more facilities & research projects in this field.

i heard abt uniten has only taken 800+ of 3000+...is it real? (dunno what year)
*
if ur spm all credits, then u have met the min req to apply. just dont forget to bring all docs when u come to uniten. tongue.gif they can also give u acceptance letter on spot if u betul2 confirm nak study here, but u have to pay commitment fees (rm500?) icon_question.gif , which will be deducted from tuition fees

not sure about the 800+ intake. doesnt really matter, all in the past
