QUOTE(revolnia @ Jun 9 2014, 12:32 PM) Torrent are blocked in cendekiawan/amanah residence? What about 24/7 internet connection? Or in weekdays, you'll only able to surf the internet after 5pm? correct me i am wrong. Torrents are always blocked wherever u are on campus. Hostel internet is available 24/7, but do understand also that uniten hostel line is not really consistent. its more often down than not

QUOTE(Jumper123 @ Jun 10 2014, 11:20 AM) Thanks again. Just wanna ask as well, what is the main book used for MEMB123 Mechanics I: Statics during the past few years? R.C Hibbeler, Mechanics: Statics.. <i forgot what edition, 12th or later i think> . There's only been one main reference for Statics and that's it. its available in the bookstore though, you should check it out.

QUOTE(revolnia @ Jun 16 2014, 01:01 AM) Really? But there is a way. When I was studying at UNiTEN, we always torrent-ing and by pass all uniten proxy. You can ask your senior how to do it. Hehe. You also can get your download speed up to 2mbps (direct download) when you are on campus/in hostel. I dunno whether they had already block the tunneling method. If you are a data security student, then you are in heaven! You can use your account to bypass all the blockage and maximizing the internet speed. apparently it doesn't work now. i don't know if the guys at COIT have found a way through or not though..

QUOTE(Jumper123 @ Jun 16 2014, 06:54 PM) Hi, just interested to know, are Uniten's classrooms always this hot? It'd been 3 weeks since my first day, and I can feel that BN has practically no air-conditioning in its upper floors where the classes are held. Yes, there is air coming out from the ducts, but thats about all. The only places with proper AC are certain classes at BM, COIT and BA. The weather is so freaking hot, and the uni ask us to wear formal and proper attire and all. Fine for me, but at least provide some decent cooling after a long walk from the hostels to classes. Having soaked from the inside out with sweat really doesnt help much in class concentration. you made your choice to come here to study. Now, face it. I'm USED to this hot uncomfortable COE since last year. They never really got anything fixed. And it would be fair to accuse their unusually massive new intakes every semester of late as being another cause. COE is like China now. overcrowded. Just repainting this repainting that. EVERY YEAR. Pretty on the outside, rotten on the inside. This post has been edited by rookie93: Jun 16 2014, 09:07 PM

QUOTE(stpmboy @ Jun 17 2014, 11:42 PM) is there any ways to download microsoft office for free? illegal ways, plenty. But Microsoft Dreamspark accounts for university students, gives you a 2 years of license for any of their Microsoft products, you should expect to receive a Dreamspark account within the year. you will be informed through email.

QUOTE(Jumper123 @ Jun 29 2014, 05:04 PM) Hey seniors, may I know how to get A for labs? Its only 1 credit hour, but there is so much work to be done. Seems hard to get A though. try getting to know some seniors. They do keep their reports. Get senior samples, refer to them, and COPY from them~!!. thats what i did in my past reports. ahaha. its frustrating if you have to spend your entire weekend trying to figure out what to do for lab reports. Study smart, not study hard~

QUOTE(DreMAx @ Jul 1 2014, 05:21 PM) For as far as I can remember, BN block is always quite warm up there in BN-4. So... you would just have to bear with it. Actually there is only one room in BN which is actually cooling but it seems to be locked all the time. the "unused" room. yea i know. Its no longer locked now. Perfect spot for nap between classes.

It's written 17 Oct (Friday) but it doesn't state a specific time, and I'm not sure if the date is accurate? Thanks well for the record, last semester, it appeared on friday 12.00am, but according to past standard procedures, it should be visible after 5pm on Friday. all the best.

QUOTE(stpmboy @ Oct 18 2014, 02:44 AM) May i know moral 2 has hw many hours per week?? TQ if you're talking about MORB 212, then it should be 3 hours, 2 hours lecture +1 hour tutorial. but when i took it, the lecturer usually abandons the 1 hour class telling us its for "Group project discussion hour" which never really happens.. haha... but keep in mind for now, its 3 hours a week.

QUOTE(stpmboy @ Oct 19 2014, 03:20 PM) thx bro ....btw i want to know is there any assignments or projects for technical communications? i did mine 2 years ago.. back then we had a proper, no-nonsense case study or project, where we had to identify situations and solve them from an engineering point of view. everything by ourselves, start from scratch. But since then, i believe the syllabus has changed. Now apparently you juniors no longer have a case study that complicated, but you all would have more assignments/exercises. But the main point of techcom, is to master citation formats for project paperwork. From the point you take tech comm onwards, all your project reports are understood to require standard citation formats and master the use of technical vocabulary, not story-writing vocab anymore. Lecturer will not remind you that you have to use it anymore. Its no longer the "SPM" way of doing project reports.

QUOTE(stpmboy @ Oct 21 2014, 12:31 AM) I heard it is v easy to get A in tech comm rite? depends on the lecturer you get. If its Ms. Alicia, then basically, there's only A.. unless you really dont care anything about the subject at all, then maybe B.. lol... but if you get Pn. Nora Dato' Yahya, then you have almost no chance of getting A. You have to really impress her, to stand a chance to get A.

QUOTE(AshtonLanders @ Oct 21 2014, 06:42 PM) Is there a lot of students here in Uniten taking short semester? Is it common among the students. Does it fasten the degree course if you took short sem every year? u still need 4 years for your degree to be recognised by BEM. if you take short sem every year, then your final year would be very free of course... depends on how you view it as; good because i dont have to rush anything at all i can for once, take every subject easily and still score comfortably, or bad because ouhh no, i have too much free time, what on earth am i supposed to do every day... so there's that to ponder...

QUOTE(13th @ Oct 22 2014, 10:50 PM) I'm EE. I will not cherry pick my job I don't mind if I get small company, atleast I'm not jobless. I need to be realistic of my path ahead, I cannot aim big company with my current CGPA but I can aim it via, as you said, work experiences. Is it just me or my friend, EE/EP course seems harder, and most of my friend atleast flunk/failed 1 subject. Mostly they are top SPM scorer. if you are fluent in spoken english, you may also note that this is a greater advantage than having a very high CGPA but being a "dumb and deaf" in interviews. The way i see you write, i think you seem to have this one in the bag... Everyone argues their course is the toughest, no surprise there.. This post has been edited by rookie93: Oct 23 2014, 10:10 AM

QUOTE(Mordecai92 @ Feb 17 2015, 07:32 PM) In my opinion the subject is easy to score because Dr Adnan (yes it's him) always rinse and repeat finals and assignments every semester. However, his teaching isn't that great from my perspective, although the subject is easy to score he made me loose my interest and therefore did not pay attention much thus ignoring the subject and focus on others (even made me miss passing up the 1st batch of assignments). He always run off topic and talk other things. Basically, it's like I ignored ICE completely till the finals. In other words he killed internal combustion engine for me. Haha, why can't all lecturer be like Mr. Michael Fong Abdullah (Fluids 2). TL;DR Yes, dr adnan only. Easy score if self study, stay with the flow, hand in assignment + do pass year final(he give tips too). Teaching methods 3/10. Burden free. Haha. Mikhail fong is the best you could want out of a lecturer. No other lecturer would be good once you have experienced his teaching. Thanks for the info btw, sounds like Adnan is no different than how he is in Heat Lab....

QUOTE(akmalrosli @ Feb 20 2015, 09:50 AM) Taking Mechanics II: Dynamics this coming special semester. Any insights on which lecturer is good? Here's a few names familiar with Dynamics: Assoc. Prof. Dr. Jawaid- most likely no longer teaching dynamics. He's the expert of Mech. Vibrations Mdm. Zaimah- very good teaching, but pop quizzes, literally POP, at the end of each lesson, which means you dont really have time to study for the quiz on the day's teaching itself. Mr. Ban - also very good, but he wont roll back all the fundamentals for you again if you're not familiar with some integration or differentiation, or physics concepts eg: FBD.. special semester last year was Mr. Ban only... not sure who's taking charge this sem. hope that helps.

QUOTE(infrasonic @ Mar 4 2015, 04:18 PM) Got a question to ask..how hard will it be to be admitted into engineering foundation course of uniten? currently thinking of E&E Altho I'm just Form 5 this year, I' think I'll get around 5 to 6 A/A+'s for SPM, which includes add maths and phys.. you could refer to the pre-requisite qualifications on uniten's website... but mostly credits in subjects should be enough to get you in...its easy to enrol into...... as for how you will handle the course itself is a very different story...
