Morning to all blmers,

Just get some info from my colleague this morning at work, I was informed that my colleague friend's FLX has a major defect which categorized as the 1st case reported to Proton.

Well the story goes like this...(plz be informed that I am here to share this true story and I am not any FAN boy from any other club who tries to create anonymous fact less story). This FLX owner got this car and from the first day he drives 80-90km/h Max b4 his 1k service. Right after 1st service, he plan to drive faster back to hometown which is in JB (mileage was clocked at 12++km at that moment). When he started to pickup and the car hit 110km/h on highway, something from the engine bay break off (acc to the driver, something like belt terputus) and the whole car stall and cannot start at all...imagine he is driving 110km/h at that moment =.= well cut the story short, car was sent back to SC via tow truck.

after 1 week plus, his car was sent from normal SC to COE and the analysis result is out finally. his FLX CVT GB was replaced completely, the reason behind was the CVT Belt terputus!! No further explanation by the technician and the owner doesn't bother to ask anymore. What I feel is this is purely his bad luck and I am very sure this kind of issue happens in any car company ><

Well, one question from me to any sifu/expert here, does CVT GB's belt so fragile? or may I say easily to be broken apart? Any similar case found in other car so far or this is by far first case?

Hmm...the CVT GB from Punch?? Maybe need to research what other cars use this GB and any such same incidence...but to break off so easily is....shocking.gif.....luckily driver didn't get into accident....sweat.gif...i think better stick to old AT GB or manual if buy Saga for time being.....dun wanna be lab rat.....at least for Inspira, Lancer guys have help us test for a few years already.... laugh.gif
*
the owner place booking for 1.6 FL initially but the sale person informed him that the waiting time is quite long and offer him FLX. He took the offer and get the FLX instead as he need a car for travelling at that moment..kesian him but lucky he is all right and didn't involved in accident

QUOTE(MR_alien @ Sep 13 2011, 12:35 PM)
from what i know there are 2 kind of belt used in CVT
not sure which is used in our CVT...but those belt shouldn't just break
somemore come from a reputable company.....manufacture defect?
proton sure claim back kaw2 with that company
*
CVT belt doesn't just break that easy right? this is also my first time hearing such issue with CVT GB, at first when driver told my colleague saying that he suspected something like belt break off, my colleague say impossible is CVT Belt as the car is so new. But after COE claim that it is true about the broken belt my colleague and was just doh.gif and speechless shocking.gif really hope that this is 1/1,000,000 of the unlucky major QC problem from Punch bcz I was thinking of asking my sis to buy the 1.6 CVT if there is any unsure.gif

Safe Tint from Proton since day 1 i took my car...Window Glass behind driver seat, they took the whole damn glass away..I took the photo but dont know how to upload here. In fact one police officer told me those syndicate knew very well for this kind of job, they use some sharp tool and cucuk at the bottom right part of yr window, and then bend it towards your body, at this time the glass would have slant a bit n they proceed to knock your window with some tools which doesn't really require much energy (bcz my car alarm didn't triggered). Since my car come with Safe Tint (those ******* knew this b4 they attack my car) their job become much more easier, just use hand and bend the whole glass and take off.
No sign of brute force or damage on the window, JUST that small part on the bottom right which the rubber aly torn and the door frame a bit 'bengkok'.

Bag pack which contain several electronic devices and laptop gone. I know some of you will say "Why I didn't take it out". After whole day of meeting and frust in the office , I forget damn forget to take out although I just walk to nearby restaurant to dabao food (which took me less than 30 minutes!!!!!!!) and when I came back to car, everything gone.

This happen in Cheras ( Tai Zhi Yuan ) or I think it is call Taman Putera?? around 7.30PM.

Better be more careful next time. Security tint?
*
Yes Safe Tint is the brand, I think come with security tint bcz when I look at the glass on the floor, it is still one piece although the glass aly cracked all over but not shattered.

QUOTE(V12Kompressor @ Oct 4 2011, 10:20 PM)
holycrap Taman Putra. So near my place.

Thats why I always keep my bag in the trunk.

Added on October 4, 2011, 10:21 pm

they take away the whole glass away la

no amount of security tint can counter that.
*
the police office told me they use some sort of detector to scan yr around, so even though u put in the trunk, they still can detect it..the only way is to remove the battery and carry it with you when u plan to leave yr laptop in the car.

Haizz..need to go pray pray d, bad luck ahhhhh

safe tint is just the brand, doesnt mean its security tint, tight? you think proton wana giv u safety tint?
most of us remove proton's safe tint anyway.. haha
even remove battery oso, can still detect bcoz there is CMOS battery in the motherboard.
so u need to remove that as well. what they use is circuit detector. detects any life circuit, be it camera/laptop/ any electronic device.
best solution? carry with u or dont bring at all.. haha
btw abot location, im outside s'gor.
in from Penang!
cool.gif
*
I cant confirm whether it is security tint or not but all I see was that the window glass was still in one piece and there is very very minor of shattered glass in the car..so I presume it was security tint ?

BUt the best part was not about what type of tint u use but what the police told me, ( those ******* will be more than happy to find out u r using security tint bcz it is easier for them to "take out" the whole damn glass rather than breaking bit by bit)...that really freak me out!!!!

bad Luck + my own careless mistake I would say...haizz..now I need to repair and then do major service sad.gif
should I ask SC to check on my alarm system as well? scared when they break in , alarm system didn't triggered maybe due to some wiring defect or short circuit?

QUOTE(+Newbie+ @ Oct 5 2011, 11:52 AM)
Sorry to hear about what happened to you, jerrymouse.
I think that's the whole point of security tints. They are very, very hard to break and even when they break, they do not shatter. And by the time it breaks, the robber would've lost the element of surprise.

Edit: Here's a sample. Check out from 3 mins onwards.

Leasson learned, 1 = never ever park horizontal at roadside esp beside is some those abandon building project (dark and not many ppl pass by)
2 = do not ever put any valuable item in yr car even though u plan to walk out from yr car for just 1 minute!!!!!!
3 = DO NOT park along JALAN BUNGA TANJUNG 9 at cheras >< I went to police station yesterday and they told me another case where by one motorcyclist snatch a women bag. It happened at the same road just 1 day after my incident happened. =.=ll

I feel for u, bro. I have been practising this all the while. As far as possible, I always park where I can SEE my car. If park in shopping ctr, I try to park where there is security camera or near where there are lots of ppl walk in, walk out.

Recent news say M'sia top 20 or wadever in terms of safety wor. Safest country in the world.  hmm.gif

QUOTE(+Newbie+ @ Oct 5 2011, 01:31 PM)
top 20 safest, do you know why? For every 1000 cases of snatch theft, the police only report about 100 cases. The other 900, they tell the victims not to bother reporting cause they will never solve it. So god knows how many cases are swept under the carpet so that Malaysian policemen can look good without doing anything at all. (Except eat, look at how fat they are).
lol ... EA Sports? As in the computer game company? tongue.gif
*
I am not sure about what the newspaper write but I seriously doubt so...when I report mycase, I ask the police how they normally proceed with such case. They only reply me "Tak boleh buat apa apa la encik, tak boleh trace" doh.gif

Haizzz...I think that answer why Malaysia can be ranked as top 20 safest country in the world. Agreed with +Newbie+ comment as well nod.gif
