Where in KL can I open a US stock exchange account, with live prices? Or are there better alternatives?

QUOTE(kimyee73 @ May 5 2013, 08:42 PM) Just to make you aware before you start your journey. With stock option you can make lots of money and lose quite a lot as well. It is not straight forward like stock as it has multiple variables that affect the option price and at least one of this variable has quite significant impact in addition to underlying stock price. Without attending any formal class, you may take several months or years to learn on your own and then make money. Maybe faster if you can grasp the concept fast. Let see what type of leading you need after a month learning. The strategies are not platform specific, so should not be a problem for you. So now accept me as your student. Kimyee73I'm a self learner. |

QUOTE(lunchtime @ May 7 2013, 08:57 AM) 1. Seek Uncle Google's help to search for ETRADE, UBS, TRADEKING, AMERICAN TRADE ..etcE.g http://www.etrade.com http://www.tdameritrade.com. http://www.tradeking.com 2. Photocopy CLEAR a) your International Passport b) Application Form c) W-8BEN Form d) Declaration Form(if any)and submit it through registered postage (around ~ rm15 to USA Broker depend on country destination, weight) Post Office OR 3. Scan electronic (FREE) and submit yr documents to them. Follow the instruction given in their website. Later, brokerage will send links to verify + validate yr credentials by email links or login into their website with security code/pins .. Check yr mailbox. 4. If not sure about new application/tools/help/features, at their website, look for "contact us", email customer support, live chat, FAQ, ...etc..etc http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/IRS_tax_forms For USA Shares and Symbol/Codes, you may seek Uncle Google's help ==> CNBC, Google Finance, Bloomberg, money cnn, marketwatch, nytimes, online wsj.com , ..etc..etc E.g of Shares are Citigroup, Symbol/Code = C Bank Of America , Symbol = (BAC) , American Int Group (AIG) , Las Vegas Sands(LVS) , Alcoa(AA), Apple (AAPL), XL Group(XL), Sirius(SIRI), Lloyds Bank(LYG), Johnson & Johnson(JDJ), Coca-Cola(KO) ..etc..etc If U R still not SURE, WALK into OSK (now RHB Securites) or Maybank Investment Bank or CIMB Clicks and ask OFFICER's help/query to trade on USA Shares... BUT, the trading commission/fee is HIGH and not worth. U can set ALERT notification if shares hit 52 weeks high, price change > 5% , Moving Averages(MA) > certain days, meet yr TARGET buy/sell price..etc. send to yr email/SMS/SmartPhone application .. Have a great day. This post has been edited by netmask8: May 7 2013, 11:20 AM |

QUOTE(lunchtime @ May 7 2013, 08:57 AM) Since the implementation of the Patriot Act and its sister legislations around 2006, opening a US share account via overseas is not an available option. You have to go there and open personally, and even then you can't do it with a visitor pass. Get a "relative" to help you la Alternatively, you can use one of the local investment banks as a intermediary. Keep in mind that if you do this, forget about day trading, as each order costs upwards of RM 200 in fees. I'm personally planning to buy AAPL for long haul via this method soon. |

QUOTE(singkah @ May 7 2013, 05:50 PM) Really? Can you ask him how he did it? I tried a few months ago, couldn't find any loophole. How did he get past the Social Security requirement? Hope this doesn't sound like a disagreement, I would very much like to know as well One can open Investment Stock Trading account with any US broker by filing the proper paperwork as posted by netmask8 (see post 2589) directly with them. One CANNOT open a Bank Account in US without showing physical presence in US. Two different things.. Apples and Oranges. Also, if you want a cheap way to transfer money to your US trading account and you are in no hurry to trade, just mail them a cheque. No need to telegraph transfer. Could save you a few hundred.. It may take a few weeks to clear but it works. Same goes if you wish to cash out, just have them send you a US cheque and cash it locally. May take a couple of weeks.. This post has been edited by danmooncake: May 7 2013, 08:57 PM |

What is the book title? This tastytrade website could help you get started as well. One question. Have you ever trade US stock before? |
