Yeah, anyone went test drive please let us know their results as well. The looks of the new X-gear is awesome, and its a steal at rm82k only. Didnt like the ahpek aunty unkerish of the old grand livina.

Main differences:
- exterior cosmetics - shorter chassis on rear end (between C and D-pillar) - no rear air vents between front seats n 3rd vent above centre centre vent on dashboard This post has been edited by Deja Vu: Sep 9 2011, 02:33 PM |

actually they should price it below 80k to appeal to more ppl and fight sales with avanza...anyway the grand livina is a really good car, i doubt this one will be underpower as the grand livina is 200kg heavier

the seat fabric felt cheaper than grand livina. seat is less firm although the SA says it's the same..
worst of all, passenger on rear seat will have hard time getting out of the car because of the smaller rear door.. i'm only 172cm with mid build body. plus short legs. basically if i'm wearing a skirt, i have a chance to air my panties when i get down from the car. also the boot panel that covers the spare tires is loose and don't fit well... it's about 1 inch of play. the doors have only single rubber lining... nowadays cars comes with 2 lining, and higher class have 3 rubber lining. basically on normal car nowadays have rubber lining on the door frame and on the door itself... same goes with grand livina... but here it's only on the door.. |

Check from Nissan website. X-gear engine has no CVTC mentioned?
X-Gear : Engine/Transmission 4 (A/T) Code HR16DE Type DOHC, 16-Valve, All-Aluminium 4-Cylinder in-line with Drive-by-Wire Technology Displacement (cc) 1,598 http://www.nissan.com.my/vehicles/xgear/#spec Latio : Code HR16DE Type DOHC, 16-Valve, 4-Cylinder In-line with CVTC (Continuously Variable-valve Timing Control) & Drive-by-Wire technology. http://www.nissan.com.my/vehicles/latio/#spec Displacement (cc) 1,598 |

Overall its a bit nippier than d 1.6GL (weight n length difference) while compared to its competitors n other crossovers, d interior is noticeable bigger in terms of passenger n boot space. But still prefer SX4 hatch's sharper handling even if it is more cramped. |

However, there is the 4 gear ratio shifting smoothness and the sound proofing that might worry me....I will need to get some time to test drive this car... Not sure if they have a manual variant...hmmm... This post has been edited by finkl1: Sep 24 2011, 11:28 AM |

One main comment about the X gear is that the rear boot sill, is painted metal. If you load and unload stuff, there is a good chance of scratching the boot sill. Need to put a sill protector garnish on it. Another way to make. More money for the accessories. Do not know why this was removed as the rear boot sill was well protected in the Grand Livina.

I'm an owner of the X-gear.. been driving this car for 3 weeks now..
I had 3 test drive session before i made the purchase. 1st test drive was by myself and the SA. 2nd was with my wife, her bro and the SA just to test the full load 4 passengers performance, 3rd test drive just to confirm this is the car to buy.. huhu.. Its a nice car to drive, engine is good, never felt underpowered and the gear change is smooth. I've driven up to 160km/h and i can tell u that it is stable in straight line and it didn't struggle to get to that speed. engine is very quite during idle. in terms of handling, it can take corners very well. surprisingly the suspension and absorber is very good. it absorb alot of the road bumps. Fuel consumption varies depends on how heavy is the foot. i tend to push the car since i like the acceleration it gives. the best i got for mix highway and town driving is 480km for a 40L fill up. the worst i got was 400km for 40L fill up. the only complaint i have is the tyre looks abit thin. they should give atleast 195 tyres not 185. another plus point, it shares the same parts and accessories as the grand livina, so quite easy to find stuff for this car. QUOTE(edthrax @ Nov 14 2011, 11:24 AM) looked at both, prefer x-gear than sx4. Hi, did your x-gear change to 195 tyre?x-gear with 16 inch rims 205 tyres, then it will look sporty.. the current 15 and 185 tyres is a bit skinny. u can pun 17 inch rims but u'll lose the comfort and lost pickup abit... Just recently my livina 1.8A changed to 195/60/15 this is really good & stable on every corner with less of brake on minor corner of the road. But I'll still notice even my livina 1.8A also lose the pickup will be a bit heavy and also the steering feel. after moving is already be normal drove. Even on half tank still can go around 195km and not much diff of 185/65/15 size. ![]() |

hi rahtid,
I also when for test drive yesterday at south gate chan sow lin branch. It was a good car. Spacious and tall easy to drive just that the engine and other feature is not up to market. basic car but still very comfortable. Any owner share information for maintenance for this car ? this is the information i get from the SA. She said the interest loan can get now is 2.41 by tan chong. Then free tint for the car and also rebate rm500 for car insurance but you need to buy the insurance with them. Hope there is an owner come in to give some opinion on the ride. |

Owner of the car since Oct 2011. Generally the car is quite confy especially for rear passengers with spacious leg room. The engine though is not up to the market but still quite responsive and fuel consumption is not bad either.

Where are all X-Gears owners, why so quiet here? I have collected my car today in Twilight Grey. It is a lovely car but I noticed 2 small scratched dots on the front grilles. Will TC replace the whole grille for me??

You can try, but I don't think they will change the whole grille for you since you have already sign the agreement, unless you haven't signed and demand them to change it for you. then the success rate will be much much higher. |

hi guys, i tested the nissan x-gear. i find the brake pedal quite high. I think in city driving when u have to press a lot of brake it can get really tiring
anyone know whether the brake pedal can be adjusted lower? I asked a few SC and they all said can't be adjusted. |

Hi guys,
This is my 1st observation for my brand new X-Gear for its FC:- 100% city drive, speed rarely go over 80km/h for 1st week. Using RON95 Full tank RM80 to estimate empty 400km equivalent to RM0.20/km. Consider quite high FC |

mikapoh..it's not fuel efficient car. Did ur SA tell u that?
i was at nissan the SA told me it's about 18 cent. But if SA say 18 cent, means ideally will be 18 cent, but when we drive will definitely be even more. |

NO, I was told the "opposite" i was at nissan the SA told me it's about 18 cent. But if SA say 18 cent, means ideally will be 18 cent, but when we drive will definitely be even more. Anyway, it has been advertised widely that GL or Livina is fuel efficiency car. Maybe I am expecting too much from a crossover or SUV. I believe if this car FC is high, then its big brother GL MPV is even worse. Hopefully the mileage will improve after the 1st service. This post has been edited by mikapoh: May 25 2012, 09:29 AM |

My GF just bought this car. So far the first full tank cost rm80. Now already half tank gone it manage to go 200km. It will be 400km for full tank i guess.
I found this car is quite good on handling too to my surprise. I' m comparing this to my Suzuki Swift handling. One thing not good is the design of the seat which is not supporting your head very well. The good thing is this is a tall car which means going to hole on the road won't hit your car body. Engine sound is a little loud but the response of the engine is quite good. |

I was told this could turn out be our advantage in longer run as simple means lower maintenance is needed. The fabric of the seats are rough to the feeling too. Could not agreed more with you. In fact, my initial choice is either Vios TRD or Kia Forte. However, taking into consideration this car is crossover, much more spacious, very comfortable ride than the 2s and for my small family, I decided to choose this car instead. the seats is still acceptable. considering the price this is better choice then vios. feel so much spacious in the car compare to vios. and the car exterior look expensive For youngsters, I think Vios and Forte will appeal more |

Feel? So far so good especially the suspension. Feel like driving a C-segment car very comfort with minimal body roll. For the size of the car, I think engine is very responsive.
I did not add spoiler and do not know there is one designed for it too. Anyway, the original one looks ok albeit look small. Nissan gives away Solar Guard but I have upgrade to V-kool for the whole car! |

QUOTE(chris903 @ Jun 12 2012, 11:58 PM) how much u pay for upgrade tinted ? At the end i ask SA to give me cash rebate for tinted becoz i can get better n good price outside ..but just a small $$ only I pay RM1.2k for whole car V-Kool installed Outside they charge RM2.8k for whole car and think it is worth paying RM1.2k to upgrade. In other words, my freebie Solar Guard is worth RM1.6k!!! Added on June 13, 2012, 8:58 pm QUOTE(faeezalias @ Jun 13 2012, 04:06 PM) Sorry for late reply, just got my X-GEar on 1st June.. One more thing, sorry for asking..Actually how to calculate that? Like other car they have this AVG on the panel meter..So it's easy to see..I think out X-gear must do some calculation for this AVG rite? hehehe.. |

Yes bro,if u read about the spec it does said fuel tank capacity is 52 L.. Maybe if we wanna make sure bout the fuel capacity, do let our car run out of fuel n maybe that time we can really know whether is it really 52 L or not when we refuelling..Hehe.. |

Actually no need to run until out of fuel... if my assumption is correct, basically this is what we need to do...when the needle reach E, then pump in full tank of petrol.. take note how many liter pumped in and reset your trip meter. then drive until you reach E again, now see how many kilometer you've covered. there you have your KM/L Anyone consider of putting Philips DRL? I'm quite tempted to put but I afraid of one thing, bad workmanship.... anyone here experienced with great workmanship installing DRL??? I hope TCM will come up with a premium version of this car. Don't mind paying a few k more
I liked the external design but inside a bit of a let down. Reminded me of Nissan Sunny Extra 1.3 of the 80s. Actually not a big fan of Nissan passenger car design. But this X Gear is well designed externally. Simple Wish list:- Mirror on both sun visors (better if comes with lights like Latio). It is weird that many women are considering this car but the driver side has no mirror! Auto Foldable side mirrors Arm rest/ Center console A Map light at the front instead of just one lamp for the whole car. Maybe a better sound system Better material for the seat |

Mine just went for 1st service. Now observing the FC and will report back. However, I do not think it makes appreciable difference, maybe slightly better FC. Previously, full tank can only last 520km for 100% city drive. Certainly not very fuel efficient, just average.
Added on June 21, 2012, 2:53 pm QUOTE(pikkidok @ Jun 21 2012, 12:06 AM) I hope TCM will come up with a premium version of this car. Don't mind paying a few k more Your view certainly echo mine...Exterior looks good but dull on the gadgets on the inside. Still think most Nissan cars are aiming for matured buyers who prefer simplistic, reliable, low maintenance in the long run. Maybe a better sound system Better material for the seat I like what have listed in your wish list. A dream come true indeed. But even then, price of X-Gear will certainly higher. Personally I don't drive more than 100km/h, or I seldom get to drive that speed coz in Kuching there is no Highway :-) Unless drive out-station where I can hit the speed more than 110km/h.
But to me, if my car is new I am very reluctant to let them install the autofoam. As you know even after careful dismantling the internal parts, there is no guarantee that they will fit as tight as originally. Maybe for doors frame are still ok. I dont dare to take the risk and find out later there are many rattling sound from here and there. About acceleration on new car, it is always advisable not to rave it hard for 1st 5000km. This is to let the new engines and other mechanical moving parts to properly loosen up. I find 10,000km to run-in is ridiculously over-stated. Another thing beside hard acceleration is try not to immediately switch on the air-con especially during morning start-up. Let the engine warms for 1~2 mins to get its driving temp before attempt to switch the air-cond. Your engine will be glad to you if you do this. Added on June 21, 2012, 11:09 pmThanks for the info on fake Clarion vx6266. This post has been edited by mikapoh: Jun 21 2012, 11:11 PM |

Chris,
I manage to get some response from Desmond autofoam regarding on our noise problem. this is what he quoted... 1) Outside Noise a) 3M Door seals ( for high frequency noise)...280 a) STP Door panel treatment for mid frequency noise and the solid Conti door feel ..480 2) To improve Ride Comfort, Handling, Engine, Uneven and rough road noise. AutoFOAM COMFORT for complete Undercarriage plus engine frames...980. 3) Engine Noise This our speciality. Very hard to get it right here, so i am very proud of this So proud, i can let you Test First before you buy!!! ....250. When you want to splurge some cash on this? I have to wait next month lor... if not later my wife will twist and turn my head and become headless chicken... |

For ride comfort, I certainly cast my vote to X-Gear. It is also one of its strong points. In the end, you still have to go and test drive to make your decision. Lets us know! I will summarize as Space vs Versatility to choose, other than P vs N |

QUOTE(faeezalias @ Jun 23 2012, 11:11 AM) The workmanship is ok for me. From the looks of it they know what they were doing. Its of ABS material. The price is about RM350 including paint. There is a fiber one as well & its a lot cheaper than the ABS one. Both spoiler & visor are actually for grand livina. It is RM100 for the visor. All prices including installation. The shop is in Senawang called Insan motorsports. Quite near to Senawang toll |

The boot can fix from SC, i did mine in nissan chan sow lin, after service, the boot no need to slam "that" hard already. The person said something to adjust with the lock.
for IMPUL , at first sight really drooling, but think of extra RM10k... maybe can spend it on some mod where u really preferred. |

I just booked this car on this afternoon! The sound proof is quite acceptable for me (during test drive). Just want to know all recent x-gear owners here...did you guys installed the free tinting (Solar Gard Armorcoat) provided by Nissan? How is the performance?

Hey all! Just got my x-gear. Seems like the viper of the first speed for mine took around 15s for every wipe but sipped too is pretty fast, every 1s or 2s per wipe. Is this common?
tan1980, i got the free solar guard installed, pretty ok for me. Did the SA offer other ferries or discount for u? |

Hi roticanai,tan1980, i got the free solar guard installed, pretty ok for me. Did the SA offer other ferries or discount for u? Hmm...the SA just advised me to change to other brands if I would like to...bcoz according to him the free solar guard is oni come with 3 years warranty & the color is not so dark (brings up lack of privacy issue...). I'm still considering coz I'm not sure how sure is him. May I know how many years warranty for your solar guard? Did you get any warranty card? According to Nissan website, the wiper operation is varies depending on the vehicle speed when it is on intermittent mode. QUOTE(rahtid @ Oct 22 2012, 05:21 PM) LOL, can't believe it is that bad. The plastic is not that bad and is same as other car as well with similar price. With that price tag for a car this big is worth for the money. looks like this isn't the car for me anymore. will drop out from here. good luck to all x-gear owners. You should test drive before decided on other same price range car. It was consider stable at high speed which is good. Absorb bumping road very well but just this is a basic car nothing much inside to play with. The only thing you can do is change the ICE. Happy Hunting |

Quick question for you guys, I make booking via website before send my car to the SC. From the website it display list of work to be done, let say 10 items to be done. But when I send the car to SC for service, the SA list down additional 2 more work to be done. For my case, they added friction proofiing and easi spitfire. When I refer back to the website, these 2 work are additional work. Why they add such work into it and not following the work we've booked in earlier? Is this a way they can earn more from customer? Honestly I won't know if they do the additional work at all since we cannot see what they are doing at all.... did you guys encounter such event?

Anyone made a central console box for their car?
There are so many grand livina on the road i assume the accessory shop would have something similar for xgear. It is good having a console box/ arm rest instead of an empty space |

car is spacious, if you don't care about middle seater...
don't expect to be superb pickup as well, but expect it to be practical, to-and-fro, reliable and cheap to maintain. |

Hi Guys, just found this forum about X-gear. I bought mine last year Sept 2012. So far so good. The handling are very responsive. Engine 130KM at 3000rpm. But i`m having problem with my gear box eversince i bought it. the gear change (when stopping) are not smooth. there`s a slight jerking from 100km to 60km, as it slows down.. 8th times service with Nissan and still they cannot solve the problem. This really upset me...
About the noise you heard at the back, its the BOARD. put a door protector (like they use for Wira, Perdana, the black colour rubber that you put at the tip of your door) at the end of the BOARD. put 4.. and when you close the boot, it will shut nicely and tight. it will not jumping around while driving. and also put a small sponge (DIY) or a small rubber underneath board (left and right) About the single rubber lining at the door, buy a 3M rubber to put it at the door frame... This will reduce noise as you travel 120km/h, seriously it reduces to 80% wind noise... yeah, i`m amazed my self Later i will put pictures in this forum showing what i did to my X-Gear.... sharing is caring huh |

The back door is not an issue can send to service center they will help you adjust then it will be easy to close. About the poor sound proof, for me is still acceptable. Hope the info help you. Go for a test drive then you will know how the sound proofing is acceptable for you or not. |

Finally, have booked my Black X-Gear. Not very common to see black XG on the road.
Any one trade in their stock radio for DVD+GPS+Reverse camera and how much top-up? |

QUOTE(jiash87 @ Aug 21 2013, 09:48 AM) I am selling mine, Feb 2013 registered car. So far 7k mileage only. Grey. If interested let me know. Ya, saw your ad in Automotive Garage. Considering that it is not even 1 year old yet, may i know the reason why you want to sell it off? Getting a more bigger / sportier car? Did you buy the X-Gear cash? Even with 5 years loan, still got more interest to pay before the actual car price... |

Warranty ended ya you can send it to any bengkel bawah pokok surely not a problem, they can do it. Becoz X-Gear very minimal electronics compared to Slyphy or Teana. |

QUOTE(elviskok @ Sep 17 2013, 12:09 PM) thanks, can you share some photos of it? rm180 quite expensive compare to those in market now assembly with wooden. It is expensive, but the material is like similar to the rest of the interior, so it won't feel weird or stand out after you install, it will feel like part of the interior ... |

Sorry to revived back this post.
May I know how's the driving experience on this car from the car owner? How's FC..any major issue in the past? How is the ground clearance, was it high? Thinking to get one. |

QUOTE(kwh01 @ Aug 2 2017, 01:18 PM) Sorry to revived back this post. I'm the car owner of 2012 model. Personal experience...not good in FC, drained battery very fast, car seats noisy (even proton saga better than this), sound proof bad, highly unstable in high speed. If you personally doesn't mind with above issue, then you can go a head. Else, look for others which are more better in the market now. May I know how's the driving experience on this car from the car owner? How's FC..any major issue in the past? How is the ground clearance, was it high? Thinking to get one. |

Now 2020, I've been driving this car for almost 7 years. Here's my thought:
Pros: Good handling Quite comfort Never have major problem except wear & tear FC is reasonable. Pump rm40 can run up to 330km Responsive engine Cons: Parts are quite pricey as I still send the car to SC Simple, lack of modern features Nvh isn't the best Bottom line: The car is great for me to use for work and sometimes long distance journey. Giving me no headache. Very reliable. It's simple no frills car but it means easy to maintain. Less electronics means cheaper to maintain in the long run. The drawback is that the NVH should be better. The spare parts are relatively expensive compared to toyota. |
