I think I need to change iphone 3gs battery because battery drain very fast

How much (with / without extended warranty and also time-frame), what is spec of replacement battery (ori/compatible) and how long to change battery?

Also will I have to restore OS. I want to maintain because jailbreak and I do not want to restore to OS5 because I heard 3GS always hang
