Hi,
Saw a lot of recommendation on Asus. 1. Is Asus notebooks reliable (in general) ? 2. How is the warranty service esp. in Penang ? 3. Is the N55Sf having the GPU issue as N45Sf that someone mentioned before ?
Thanks !

Guys,
I heard that the Asus N55Sf-S2043v is replaced by N55SF-S2187V. But the color wise, is it still only black is available?

QUOTE(PF T.J. @ Oct 5 2011, 11:53 AM) There are 2 variants of the N55sf, but I guess you're referring to the i5 variant (RM2799) The i5 variant of the N55sf rather weirdly has a HD+ (1600x900) matte screen, which is considered as a steal. So if you're okay with a 15" laptop, then the N55sf (i5) would be the one to pickĀ I checked in the store and also based on Asus catalogue, the screen display is 1366X768 only. Is the 1600X900 available as an option ? One of the store tried to promote the Asus N53 to me. He said the N53 is Aluminum frame so will not have problem long term as with the N55 plastic frame (which would have plastic worn off problem). Is that true ? How old is the N53 model already, anyone ? This post has been edited by bbgoat: Oct 5 2011, 03:00 PM

QUOTE(PF T.J. @ Oct 11 2011, 08:57 AM) 3830Tg is still very common bro Its 3820Tg that's hard to find haha Added on October 11, 2011, 8:58 amYeah, the i5 variant of the N55sf is pretty much the best at the moment You might wanna wait out for the newer ones with refreshed processors, which is coming real soon (if not already) Are you referring to i5 2430M (old one is 2410M) ? The 2430M already out in the store.

Hi Guys,
Need recommendation from the sifu's. Saw Samsung ad on RC530 with i7 processor, 2G Nvidia GT520M GPU, Blue Ray disc at RM2899. Looks very attractive at that price !
How is that compared with Asus N55SF (RM2799) or Asus A53 ?
Thanks in advance for your advice !

QUOTE(lee_what2004 @ Oct 28 2011, 10:21 AM) Well, you are into multimedia playback (BluRay) or games ? Hi, not so much into either. Just looking at the price/performance with Samsung i7 and the Blu ray offered. But how is Samsung in terms of their notebook performance ? Thanks ! Added on October 28, 2011, 10:33 amQUOTE(PF T.J. @ Oct 28 2011, 10:22 AM) RC530 comes with GT540M yo Samsung RC530, i7-2630QM + Nvidia GT540M@RM2899 The ad in the newspaper mentioned GT520M. I suppose GT520M and GT540M is not as powerful as the Asus N55sf's GT555M ? This post has been edited by bbgoat: Oct 28 2011, 10:33 AM

QUOTE(lee_what2004 @ Oct 28 2011, 10:43 AM) Price/Performance wise, you can get Core i7 with better GPU GT525M with Inspiron 15R @RM2599.. Unless you really need the Bluray drive.. Yup, GT555M is better than those two. GT525M/GT540M is still decent. GT520M is lower more.. Thanks a lot ! I think I will stick with the Asus N55sf ! Going to Penang PC Fair to look for a bargain !

QUOTE(lee_what2004 @ Oct 30 2011, 11:04 AM) N55SF starts RM2699 with 1600x900, Core i5 and nVidia GT555M.. MSI GE620DX-FHD@RM3299? Core i7, GT555M, FullHD.. SSD isn't just for restart, its for overall system responsiveness.. As for your Compaq, time to clean the dust and repaste. Better consider MSI GE620DX, easy access to the heatsink for cleaning and it comes with FullHD as well.. The N55sf is still at 1366X768 for the S2353V model as shown in Asus brochure. Is the 1600X900 display another model ?
