Eh, one question. If the monitor can't be seen by any other angle besides the normal to your screen, it's LCD right (turning into some weird colour)?
If can be seen by a wide angle it's LED right? |

Nope, its doesn't matter its LED or LCD,
that situation is referring to the display panel, like TN, MVA, IPS. Most laptop have TN, which is the poorest from those three. MVA & IPS have wide viewing angle.. |

Hi everyone. I need a a recommendation for a laptop/netbook
1. Preferred Brand - none. Well, maybe lenovo or asus ee series? 2. Budget - less than RM1500 3. Usage - research purpose. Graph plotting, word, presentation slides, net browsing etc. No gaming, so I don't really want a high specced laptop, but just enough to multitask and play flash 4. Preferred laptop/screen size - between 10 and 13 5. Misc - must be light! Less than 1.5kgs. And if possible, the netbook HDD can be changed to SSD (don't mind if I have to do it myself) Thanks in advance! This post has been edited by apiddo: Sep 14 2011, 10:28 AM |

QUOTE(devour @ Sep 14 2011, 01:01 PM) apiddo is looking for a laptop capable of multitasking, which the 1215b can't. And since he doesn't game at all... having a E-450 is not the best choice So at the end of the day, having the i3-380M powered 13R would be the better pick |

Just went to lowyat today, and now I have to choose between all of these. Care to share some info about them?Dell inspiron 13R (Intel i3)- RM1399 Asus ee pc 1215B (AMD E450) - RM1299 HP pavillion DM1-4000AU (AMD E450) - RM1099 (online price) Lenovo ideapad S205 (AMD E450) - RM1299 Lenovo ideapad S100 (Intel N570) - RM1099 MSI U160DX (Intel N570) - RM999 This would be my first netbook, so I really have no idea about the build quality etc. Dell inspiron is too heavy, plus the battery life isn't that great. For the other netbooks, all have about the same specs, except for the processor (AMD vs Intel) and screen size (11.6" vs 12"). I don't really have a preference, but I want it to be as light a possible, without sacrificing perfomance. So, can anyone advice me which netbook is better? Btw, is it better to upgrade windows 7 starter? Most netbooks i see only have windows 7 starter.... How much will it be to upgrade? Do i have to buy a new copy/license to install other version of 7?? |

But if you're looking for something smaller, then the E-450 will do~ In general, the larger the screen size, the shorter the battery life Perhaps you can take a look at Dell M102z? Its more expensive, but comes with 7,200rpm HDD, which will give a little bit of speed boost |

A bit more expensive, but it comes preinstalled with windows 7 home premium 64bit, and 4gb ram. Worth the money I think. Btw, when i say multitask, i meant like websurfing and mp3-ing and making powerpoint slides all at the same time. I don't intend to use any resource hogging programs like photo editor, so 2gb should be okay? Now i'm torn between Asus 1215b, HP dm1-4000 and dell m102z |

QUOTE(devour @ Sep 14 2011, 06:20 PM) That is a good argument for 1215b. I'm planning to change the HDD to a 64gb SSD later (maybe after 1 year coz of warranty) and use external HDD for more storage. So usb 3.0 is a plus for me. But 1215b only comes with windows 7 starter. That's the only drawback.... The dell m102z comes with home premium and 4gb ram only at rm200 more. No usb 3.0 though But, I guess I can always upgrade windows 7 and ram on the 1215b later, but I can't upgrade the m102z with usb 3.0. So... 1215b wins? |
