HP has the slightly better GPU and Core i7.
Asus N45SF/N55Sf has better speaker.
Asus N55Sf has 1600x900 matte screen.

Go to Device Manager, under Display, you can see the nVidia GT540M.
DDR3 is the RAM. You cannot upgrade to DDR5.

@acid my bro said Y470 at pc fair got dual fan wor.. can adjust speed tim.

maybe 2 fan + 1 heat-sink only???
*
One fan only.
How to adjust fan speed ? Press where ?

QUOTE(g1bber @ Dec 6 2011, 06:25 AM)
1. Preferred Brand : none, really
2. Budget : 1.4k to 1.5k and below
3. Usage : Internet, Excel, Powerpoint
4. Preferred laptop/screen size 11.6 to 13/14 . I don't want it to be too heavy or have short battery life

Recommended by my superiors to get with a smart design, and not just plain jane because in my line of work I meet a lot of people and first impressions are important . For some reason, what I use to present reflects a bit on my personality sleep.gif
Macbooks and tablets are out, since my company software only runs on Windows haiz
*
The Asus Vx6s ? But kinda out of budget,
or Vaio Y series.
If need long battery life, there's Asus 1015PW.

Thanks for your reply, but isn't 1015PW 10inch ? I tried out a Toshiba 520 but I felt the screen was too small for my taste

Currently have my eye on HP DM1, but someone on the forums told me the build quality isn't too good
*
Haven't tried the DM1, can't comment on the build quality.
Similar spec with the DM1 is Asus 1215B, its 12'' instead..

does microsoft office come along with windows ?
*
No. Windows only have Windows.
If you referring to preinstalled Windows, usually they come with Office Starter, unless mentioned otherwise.

QUOTE(asm@m @ Dec 13 2011, 03:19 PM)

XPS 17 never been introduced here...

^which GT555M ?
QUOTE(JunJoe @ Dec 14 2011, 06:50 PM)
why? isn't GT555M DDR5 is better because it is newer?
*
Because GT555M has 5 version,
The GT555M DDR5 version with similar price range with N55SF, is actually just GT550M paired with DDR5
While the rest GT555M is the next level from GT550M...
