it seems like the lens installed are the wrong deg optics. check back the instructions.

i could say it more to installing additional lens to a camera. like any camera zoom lens, the distance between cameras lens and the zoom lens are constant.
so the probable solution: 1. lighting - avoid direct light to the kinect to prevent glare. 2. position of the camera - also to reduce glare 3. zoom lens are not completely attached to the kinect 4. dirty lens

i think its a wize idea to contact PA and ask for an advice. (i m pretty sure its broken)

i dont think is a gimmick. it probably factory defect. the lens are sensitive things.

I think it's the first batch defect issue. And the nyko manual aint any helpful

possibly its the sticker that supposedly to be installed to kinect wasnt done properly or faulty.
