I got a question, is switch axe good when playing with other people?
The game is still too new for me
*

it's an ok melee weapon but i would advice u to use light bowguns... low armor but it's the one of the few weapons where u can slack most of the time... just be extra careful and watch out for monsters...

For starters, best melee weapon imo is still the SnS, hammer and long sword. Chance of landing hits on monsters are much higher. Another good option is Gunlance - can tank most of the time.

I disagree with light bowguns at the start of the game as you would not have access to better damaging ammos and needless to say, got to spend a lot of time farming for materials.
*

i should have mentioned clearly: i mean try and play gunner for internut/ ad-hoc play. i still stick with melee weapons when i'm playing alone.

you can't really take a slack in game when there are no person to help you with the monster. i play gunner role in group, mostly on providing status/ support fire and would always be the first few to yell, 'RUN AWAY!!! RUN AWAY!!!' (but fails most of the time... DANG U SIEGE MODE!!!)

oddly i found poking stick i mean... lance... is more fun than gunlance due to bunny-hop i mean... back leap...

QUOTE(gaeryn @ Mar 22 2013, 12:08 PM)
Light bowgun is expensive and not friendly for beginners.

The bullets in MH3U are more expensive than previous MH games D:
*

there goes my trolling session... sad.gif

1. use level 1 normal bullets*
2. party with 3 capable hunters
3. ???
4. profit!!!

Thinking of getting it. But seen like every one playing it with the circle pad.
Know that can play without it but is the control better with it?
Use to play psp version and already a bit hard to control..
The circle pad is for rotating the camera?
*

there are people playing it without circle pad, it's optional but still highly recommend to use one
it makes camera navigation response more easy since it's a physical controller, compared to the virual ones in the touch pad
other than that, it also provides extra grip for ur 3ds, especially when u r using non- LL/XL version which is quite uncomfortable to hold

each weapon got certain moves that should not be used in multiplayer. staggering or sending your team mates flying is not fun. SA to me is quite disruptive cry.gif i am ok with being staggered - just don't upswing lah..... i use GS, GS also can upswing. out of courtesy, i NEVER use that move when i am playing with other people.
*

but but but... hamma user can't really be call a hamma user if there's no SUPER POUND!!!

but funny thing is: when i tried to pound monster's head, sometimes i find amusing to get pushed left and right by non-gs users, especially sns, ds, ls... they should know their weapon can't do much exhaust/ KO damage on the monster and there's a huge mass area call 'BODY'...
QUOTE(Rei7 @ Mar 27 2013, 01:29 AM)
Switching from Switch Axe to Great Sword. A lot easier to play with GS. If I switch to Lance sure boring, it's going to be to easy. So better choose some hard class tongue.gif
*

dun use block, use dodge

then lance is an interesting weapon to play

if there is a hammer user in the group - then everyone should avoid the head area. that is for hammer user to super pound. if other weapons enter head area and kena fly - it's their own fault  tongue.gif

having said that, i once played with a hammer user who kept super pouding the tail while asking us to cut it  sweat.gif
*

silly hamma user...

the only time hamma user stand at tail area is the time when he/she decides to send people for a bird's eye view of tat area brows.gif

i had some undesired experience few weeks back, after some heated argument about diablos bow vs awakened-no-brainer-kelbi bow. it was quite some fierce argument since it span many perspective of how a bow should be used, how i was being bad with bows when i had kitty-carted twice early in game when i was in siege-mode using a heavy bowgun (see the relationship? there's a 'bow' in bowgun... so they are related...) on some visit-trip, how my twisted ideology of showing support to the 'opposition' as 'resistance' in general had me crowned as 'enemy of MU' (oh c'mon... it's it phun to watch all-powderful MU vs team with strength of QPR, when you know the result would 85% be favoring MU?) to screenshots on the last run... it is still a healthy debate, and still laughed about my failed naked high rank run... until someone barged into the conversation and said that i 'can't even finish the 'mark of heroes' village quest... and always require help from other hunters for parts'...

elitism, that's the part that made my holy pally left the raid group of WoW when certain few had compared their overall healing numbers instead of effective healing numbers with my healz, and boasted how much better on putting up unnecessary healing on the raid group. i had mentioned several times that i play becuz of the social part and not the single player mode. i did nagged few times on some monsters runs but oddly... he is the one who has a looooong list of 'stuffs i need to have', compared to me and my 'i need everything!!!' quote, where i join almost every quests people starts, be it a hunting quests or low level gathering quests irregardless of ranks.

i ranted to one certain lyn peep (whose a hunter and also a reseller) after meeting him up for my wish-list-lewt. he did told me to brush off the comments as it means nothing to me and i should focus on what i want to play and continue to do wat i do best (other than giving spiritual support to people...)

i went to the hangout place as usual last saturday, sat there and continued with my lil' naked-project until certain one person (who also know about the conversation) tried to calm my rage and mend-up the friction. at the end of that day it did made me think whether i should continue my laziness to compete the quest chain or to rush for it... i made my move and started to finish all the quests until i can prove to him that i can do it. i had rushed the game for the past few days, and reach the quest after few days of late night hunting... i took the quest, blocked most of laggys attack barrages, then stand in the arena with azure rathalos and brachidious running towards me with open arms (after failing to smoke bomb properly...)

when azure rathalos was finally put down by brachi (oddly... ), i paused the game and pondered whether i should finish the game like this? for days i had rushed village quests, is it just proving to someone that i can actually finish the game, worth all the effort? i hit the home button and turn of the game and the 1st thing about the game that comes into my mind was: how da f**k that fella in jew-tiub managed to land 2 consecutive KOs to that *-jinouga within 5 minutes?!

hunting horn... hunting horn... hunting horn... hunting horn... hunting horn... hunting horn... hunting horn... hunting horn... hunting horn... hunting horn... hunting horn... hunting horn... hunting horn... hunting horn... hunting horn... there must be some twisted techniques behind those seemingly unrelated and slow attack moves... imma start practicing horn swings and movements...

* based on a real story, where the real one was quite boring...

my thoughts on MH4:

the starting scene tells a story on how the unfortunate player managed to join the caravan, then gets to explore and travel all around places which kaputcom (or cashcom) don't actually reveal much details to the players. the game seems to link and relate previous titles into it: we see crops are deal in from pokka village and dun forget the traveling yokumo village

this release has better story line compared to 'you are a hunter, and your job is to fulfill villagers selfish requests after whacking the baddie monster that is likely to threaten the village' in previous installments that shows up

weapon wise, i'm not into the pole-vault-thingamajig, and i haven't tried the SnS-axe hybrid. i use lance (aka poking-stick) for village missions and compared to MHP3rd and MH3G, the block/ counter is relatively responsive but just like MH3G, it still lacks of MHP3rd split-secound-godly-invulnerability during counter-attack setup. counter-attacks to certain monsters would probably fail because of push-backs while guarding (might be due to lack of guard+2 skill).

i'm stuck with (spider) bow while online. it introduces 2 action types for bow (or issit gunners in general?) to play: type 1 makes the game-play like t**kiden and type 2 would be the typical bow settings. the newly introduced (power?) shot gives an extra burst.

as for the control, i'm not sure whether is my 3DS wearing down (rubbers on both 3DS and cpp are wearing off) or the game itself... IMHO, the game controls are less fluent compared to previous series, especially when multiple buttons are pressed and hold during game play. there are multiple times where i need to do charged shield bash but it ends up with a poke because the directional button fails to comply; there are also few instances character stood when i had move the directional key; also, charged attacks often failed to charge when i hold down R and X buttons. oddly, everything seems to werk well when i starts MH3G.

hai all, newbie here....
just played for awhile and not so get used to the touchscreen panel...
is it recommended to get circle pad pro ?
mine is 3ds XL, i heard that CPP will make it very difficult to use touchscreen and press start button, could u guys share some experiences ?

the 3d effect is not so useful during quest la haha, coz the screen will blur even though i just shake a little
*

i'm using normal 3ds, and from what i can say is: cpp is good to have for easier camera navigation in expense of extra battery drainage.

there are people who plays the game without cpp (since unlike psp, people cant use the pincer/crab method) with the lock feature

as for mhfg, i dun see the big deal of p2p model: many people are playing mmo with p2p model, and in the so called f2p mmos, there exists people dumping thousands for a free game so people can rub his epeen

online feature are the current trend, mh4 has many people participated in the online feature and it's smooth even with my 1mbps line. and it's a way for kaput-com to maintain their relationship with sony

ofkos, kuroneko's concern is still valid: the game needs constant internet connection... and we have TMNut...
