Mine is RM 5 / foot run, but for only skirting they may charge more.

Timber skirting still a trend in high class homes... and I have installed many over the past 6 years including our former PM's villa last year. For most houses, skirting size is around 3" to 4". For the Tun, it is 6" or 150mm in height.

Timber skirting; if workmanship is good is much better than marble. Marble skirting is very thick as compared to timber.

I think can get fibre cement timber look-alike skirting material, if worry abt dampness and termites. I have seen it at an archidex fair 2 yrs ago. Price of course is not cheap.

As for timber, the material alone will cost abt RM3 per foot run can source at Hotrade, Damansara Uptown (same row as TM). RM5 pfr is not expensive.

Wow that's a very general statement!

its like saying don't use timber doors because of termite risk.

sure, timber will always be at risk of termites, but there are different types of timber with their own natural resistance to termite.

I'm sure you wont use marble skirting if you have timber floors, would you? smile.gif

Wood is coming back for higher-end homes.

Cost for skirting really depends on type, species, size.

For laminate flooring, the preferred option is still to use MDF skirting or solid timber if budget permits. I can show you the difference and you can make your own decision which to use later.

PVC is recommended for accessories (stair nosing, transitions and adaptation profiles) since they are more durable compared to MDF ones..

PS. Phoenix, let me know when you are doing your floor screed and bathroom tiling. I will need to advise you on where to end the tiles.
