The fear of blood or hemophobia can be terribly frightening and disruptive. And like many other, Esther shared the same phobia. But her pledge to help those in need and with a proper understanding and exposure to the current blood shortage issue, she overcome her fear of blood and tried her very best to contribute.

The recently crowned 2nd runner up of Miss Global International Malaysia 2011 and winner of Miss FHM Girl Next Door 2011 has always been active in charity activities since young and believe in spreading the care and love among the society is important as everyone deserves to have a better living. Instead of waiting, she decided to be proactive in taking action, hence driving her own campaign.

Her 1st campaign from a long wish list will be focusing on blood donation, themed 911: We Urge. Targeting 100 donors, this campaign will be held at Subang Avenue on 11th September 2011 starting from 9am to 4pm. “Blood is an important substance in medical treatment. With the increasing number of hospitals nationwide, demand for blood has increased tremendously. The objective of providing enough blood to patients will not succeed without the help of the general public.” Said Esther.

“I had my fear of blood for as long as I can remember. At first, when I would see my own blood I would get very anxious, and sometimes even panic. As I got older, my phobia of blood got worse, and I would not only dread the sight of my own blood, but anyone else’s as well, and even blood on TV or in photos. I never knew what caused it, and to be honest, I still don’t know why it started. The good thing is that I don’t care anymore because I’ve been able to get control of my fear and put it behind me.” she added.

Esther is putting an effort to make this event significant by creating awareness and publicity to the general public of all ages the importance of blood donation. “When one donate their blood, they save life. Also, I would like to take this opportunity to urge the public in joining the campaign. Let’s share some love and hope.”
