What do you think? IPS with CCFL back-lighting or IPS with LED? The obvious answer would be to get the Dell U2312HM since it's using an LED back-lighting instead of a CCFL back-lighting. However, currently its price is still pretty much sky high ( RM864 from Dell Online ). I'd suggest that you wait for a bit until the price reduces or go with the cheaper Dell U2311H or if you are able to afford the U2312HM at RM864, then forking out another RM30 for the U2412M should not be much of a problem for you. 2412M with coupon RM749 2312M from Dell SMB RM649 2311H RM609
Pick whichever that you are comfortable with. I'd pick the 2311H LED backlighting or not thats up to you. Some people think LED backlighting is better, some think it is worse especially those people at AVforums. I am indifferent, whichever is cheaper I'll bite.
But if you think LED backlit is worth the rm40, be my guest, whatever makes you happy.

. That's strange. U2312HM. One part of Dell's web offers instant cash redemption while the other doesn't offer any. Anyway, looks like the U2312HM would be a purchase that can be considered after all. @Thread Starter - I'd suggest that you try PMing members like JREnterprise and biologi to see what they have to offer on the U2312HM. Their deals are usually better than what Dell Offers. Alternatively, you can try suggestions given by several members of the forum here to try negotiating with the support via live chat. I hear that CCFL is more superior? That's why the higher end H-IPS panels like in the U2410 and U2711 are still using CCFL? How about what I heard as LED backlight being "less stable" or more prone to defects compared to CCFL?

The only reason on why comparisons between CCFL and LED back-lighting tech here ends up with CCFL being the winner is because we also compare the monitor's panel type.
Most of the LED LCD monitors ( until the release of the Dell U2312HM / Dell U2412M ) are using TN panels, therefore a monitor with CCFL back-lighting but with an IPS panel would be favored over an LED back-lit monitor.
Anyway, the benefits of having an LED back-lit monitor would be that you would have a brighter display, a monitor that consumes less power, and better blacks and whites. Although fears that the LED back-lighting would go out instantly if it spoilt compared to the dimming of CCFLs, LEDs actually last very long so there's nothing to worry about to be honest, unless your monitor has a very short warranty period.

The quality concern about LED is that the individual LEDs can age at a different rate. So as they age, a screenful of a single colour can be mottled darker and lighter.
