Hi Guys,
I new here. Just "divorce" my CANIKON and happily married to sony a580 and i would say it is much better than my old nikon d40 and canon 50d. i'm planning to get either sony speedlite 43am or 58am but i can't find enough info about this two "cobra" family.

some info that i got says that 58am always having overheating issue.it is true? other than different GN are there any other major different?

My current gear now is a580+battery grip+ sony 18-55mm+sony 24-105mm ( sony 50mm f1.8 - waiting for delivery ) samyang 85mm f1.4 ( next purchase)

I'm more into Wedding and Product Photography.

Hope can get some advice from u guys.

Thanks

Sorry, 16105 you mean? I will rather get the f58, of course. But if I have a budget, then f43 would be perfect.

it's sony 24-105mm

alphazal : The F58AM does overheat under some conditions. It happens when you flash continuously using full power, which shouldn't be the case. If you are flashing in full power ALL the time, it means you're doing it wrong.

I've had my F58 overheat once. After that, I've learnt my lesson and have never had the F58 overheat again. Don't be afraid to use higher ISO to help your flash along.

what about " technology". does't 43am advance then 58am?

Samyang lens are awesome bro smile.gif Sharpness is similar to Zeiss, just missing AF.

F58 overheating? I did flash my F58 continuously and I think overheating is not really an issue for me.
*

How advance you want la bro? Both also flash, what do you expect? Lol.... F58 does its job well, no complains from mu side except for the slightly touchy legs which mine faces =,=

Plus, 1680Z instead of 1650 f2,8? Ahaha.

I find the wideness of 24Z is good enough for my daily use smile.gif
*
something like master and slave. if i'm not mistaken f43am is slave only right? and 58am can be both.

don't know la ..but my interest now are more to cz maybe due to the IQ... 16-50 ok la.. but i think can cover that with tammy.

can't wait to get samyang 85mm..

alphazal : The master/slave thingy depends on the body you're using. If you are using A900/A850/A77/A700 then both F43 and F58 can be commanders or slaves but for other alpha bodies you need to use the pop-up flash as the commander.

Talk about technology well, the F43 can give you better control as you can select power up to 1/64 but then again it has lower flash output compared to the F58. The most frustrating thing is that you don't have enough power on your flash to give you the results you need. That is the reason why most experienced user will advise you to get the top of the range flash if budget is not a concern.

thank you ..this is what i want to know.. buying this flash next week and play around with it thumbup.gif

IF Manual Controls, yes, 43 has more option.

if technology/spec in Auto mode, both more or less the same.

get F58 for better cycle time.

overheating is when you set your aperture to F8 (higher) and burst non stop. or iso200 and burst non stop, which you are doing it all wrong. smile.gif

yup will do... best price f58 i got in png is RM1100 at perangin mall... f43 RM7++.00

alphazal: The F43 can be master also, but your A580 doesn't allow master-slave wireless flash. You'll have to use the pop-up flash to trigger the F43 or F58 off-camera.
Any recommendation for trigger?

did you try the shops along penang road?
they are very competitive as well
contemplating to get the f43am myself after canning the plan to get lense
btw, one this the f43am can while the f58am doesn't is weather sealing
but not much point when the body+lense is not
yup.. i tried all the shop in Penang road, Komtar, perangin, queensbay and gurney plaza.

so far the best price is at perangin mall " Lam loong". i think i notice is not many shop are selling sony n if they sell only some of them got ready stock... and 1 more thing i also notice... when i go to the shop that not selling sony and ask about sony gear..they will sure poison u like hell..and under estimate sony. Not to say i'm good but i managed to counter attack them back and some sellers seem try to cheat me andone of them is sony centre it self in gurney plaza.

the sales person is just teenager and i ask him about a580 body. 1st he told me that they are out of stock but later after chatting with his sales friend he then came to me and quote me RM3000 for a BODY. he said this is the last unit and this is the best price already... ayoo... i ask him twice, are you sure and he say yes!.. i asked him to double check
but he said "olledy check la boss"... sony website retail price body is rm2699 and kit rm3099... street price is lower than that... i don't want to argue and just walk away...maybe the commission i think?...

back to penang road..

Hike - not selling sony
mega star - no stock
excell - no stock
opposite mydin...forgot the name- also no stock
fotokem perangin no stock -
lam loong - got f58 rm 1100 f43 rm700++
one more shop near entrance with big nikon sign..selling sony also..no stock
clip and snap - no stock

photo presiden queensbay - f43 rm 850 ( best price olledy)

the rest i forgot already...... shop at tesco?...don't bother to ask la...so expensive..

I think you have not even touched the tamron before that's why you are making such pointless remarks about its performance. Won't blame you for that. smile.gif

The only thing that interest me about the 1650 is the SSM engine. Otherwise spec wise tamron is almost on par. And it's lighter and has shorter MFD.

For that extra few hundred saved I could use it to buy extra batteries and maybe fund for a new flash gun.

But no, since you don't shoot events and stuff so you wouldn't realise the importance And have the need of other accessories as well. So I won blame you again for that. smile.gif

boss i'm stuck between this 2 lenses... any sample closed up using sony+tamron 17-50? i'm looking sharp lens for my jewelry photography..

thanks

alphazal: It is ghosting, a 180 degree rotation from the flourescent light in the bottom of the picture. This happens with lens filters. Better filters have less of it but still not as good as not using a filter at all.

thanks albnok biggrin.gif
