zstan: #2 is weirdly framed. Portrait and just a bit lower!

JackCL: Nice shot of the X100 with good lighting, though the background is a bit distracting.

e-jump: Long time no see! The processing is a bit flat on the faces though, why?

Oh there's the Sony 28-75mm F2.8 SAM, also a full-frame lens. smile.gif

kysham: Interesting shot with many layers. smile.gif

azamunekurone: Nice! Interesting angle, I've never gotten that before!

fansoption: Nicely processed! It makes the background less obvious.

azamunekurone: No wonder, you're in a jamming studio!

dtdw: I was referring to the Sony 28-75mm F2.8 SAM not the Sony 16-50mm F2.8 DT SSM, in reply to e-jump. smile.gif

dtdw, well spotted! I've updated it.

JackCL: Nice! Though if you brought the car to an open field, with the same clouds, and a bit less contrast, you could make it an ad.

ieR: Nice! The girl sitting down was a very interesting touch.

shootkk: Stepping closer means a different background and different perspective. Not quite the same thing.

alphazal: The F43 can be master also, but your A580 doesn't allow master-slave wireless flash. You'll have to use the pop-up flash to trigger the F43 or F58 off-camera.

shootkk: The F43 does 1/128 power too. biggrin.gif

ieR: Ah, but people forget that the A900 still has the BEST ISO rating on DxOMark. Any other "supposed" ranking is perceptual, probably because that person is not shooting RAW and not pulling shadows and dynamic range.

alphazal: Use the pop-up flash.

Set your flash mode to wireless on the A580. Raise the pop-up flash.

Set your F43/F58 to RMT and it will be triggered when you press the shutter.

alphazal: Er... okay lah. The color is a bit too greenish and the background is distracting.

fas29: Hotel Istana? Nice watermarking style.

alphazal: You can stalk her in the garden or in a park. wink.gif

Eh it sounds like Lam Loong has the F43 for RM700++ which is the best price?

lwliam: The A900 is still the best high ISO Sony body, just that its JPEG engine wasn't that great with noise.

When it comes to RAW the A900 is still cleaner.

chiahau: The 20 seconds depends on the card. Faster cards will 'unscrew' faster.

lwliam: The LA-EA2 does not have its own battery.

deadangel: Looks like you've changed your WB, or the WB offset.

fansoption: Nice!

ahpingko: I like the greens and the symmetry.

zstan: Y U NO PUT WARNING?

Newbieeeeee: #1 framing off, too tight. #2 and #6 could use deeper DOF. #3 could be aligned level. Not sure what to look at in #7.

ieR: What's with the blue-ish shots lately?

I had a chance to try the Sony Alpha SLT-A77 thanks to Sony. We had Jakling, a model, work with us to get these shots. This would be a great opportunity to see what this 24 megapixel APS-C sensor camera could do!

The pop-up flash was used to trigger an off-camera HVL-F58AM flash in this one.

Thanks to ahmike, our tall Voice Activated Lightstand!

Wide, with the Sony 16-50mm F2.8 DT SSM.

These are all JPGs straight out of the camera.

I think this was the High Contrast Monochrome picture effect.

user posted image
This, the Posterization (color) effect.

Soft filter. I love how it treats overexposure!

Smile Detection, with the LCD screen turned to face her so she could see herself smiling. biggrin.gif

Bokeh from the 16-50mm is, well, average. 28mm F2.8.

Top: Lens correction off.
Bottom: Lens correction on.

This feature only works for four lenses at the moment:
1) Sony 16-50mm F2.8 DT SSM
2) Sony 18-55mm F3.5-5.6 DT SAM
3) Sony 55-200mm F4.0-5.6 DT SAM II (note that this is not the same as the screw-driven Sony 55-200mm F4.0-5.6 DT)
4) Sony 18-250mm F3.5-6.3 DT

Sony plans to add support for more lenses with firmware updates.

45mm F3.5 ISO100 1/250s.

I tweaked the levels slightly on this one. Note where the shadows are. This is also a portrait-oriented crop of a landscape shot.

user posted image
This is a 100% crop of the above picture, not from the JPG, but from the RAW, processed with Adobe Camera RAW 6.5. (As always, ACR and Lightroom get the RAW support first.) I have intentionally pulled the shadows and restored the highlights so you get an idea how far a RAW file from the A77 can go. I could've pulled the shadows more but it would've looked very unnatural.

Sure, the shadows do exhibit some noise, but remember that I pulled it from pretty much black into midtone territory, making it no longer ISO100!

deadangel: Er I purposely made it so vivid lah.

jimlim007: All AF SLRs are using phase-detect AF when using the optical viewfinder. Only Sony uses phase-detect AF in Live View (except the A450 and NEX cameras without using the LA-EA2). The rest use contrast-detect AF in Live View to provide an uninterrupted view. Contrast-detect AF is slower.

rainy~days: Hmmm you have a point there. By default Sony JPGs make the greens and reds a fair bit more vibrant and... flourescent. Though I have to say, the dress was vibrant itself. Loading the RAW in ACR or Lightroom would reduce the flourescence greatly, though not as much as if I was to calibrate a color profile using an X-Rite Colorchecker, for example.

NutzZ748: Nope, the focal length stays the same as there is no glass in the LA-EA2.

It uses the camera's power.

Newbieeeeee: Contrast Detect AF is pretty much like how you'd manual focus a lens from looking at the screen alone - keep turning it until it gets contrasty.

Phase Detect AF uses a pair of AF sensors, one looking from the left, the other from the right. It sees how far the same image is from each other in the left and right sensor, and knows exactly where to focus based on this.

If you've seen a split-prism viewfinder you'll know exactly what I mean.

deadangel: Well you'd need to get a faster card, unfortunately - you have a few options:

1) Sony Memory Stick Pro Duo HG (read 50MB/s, minimum write 15MB/s, maximum write 20MB/s)
2) Sandisk Extreme Pro UHS-1 (read 45MB/s, write 45MB/s)
3) Sandisk Extreme Pro UHS-1 (read 95MB/s, write 90MB/s)
4) Toshiba UHS-1 (read 95MB/s, write 80MB/s)
5) Delkin Elite633 UHS-1 (read 95MB/s, write 45MB/s)

Note that the read speed is written on the package - this is the only way to tell between say the Sony MSPD 50MB/s and the older MSPD 30MB/s.

Eh, after a burst, it should only hang for 20 seconds or so on a MSPD 30MB/s card.
