QUOTE(waveweaver @ Sep 5 2011, 08:12 PM) Welcome to the big family :-) You are making a right choice of picking SGSII as your first android smartphone as it is one of the most easiest phone to handle, use, update or upgrade. I am so happy somebody responded to my post. Means alot to me Basically I just need tips and tricks on how to get started without having to go read through the whole Forum post. My questions are simple: 1) What are essential/important apps i need for my phone? 2) I'm quite confused bout rooting. Seems like there's alot of different "roots". Which is the best for me now?

QUOTE(waveweaver @ Sep 5 2011, 08:30 PM) For rooting and flashing custom roms, i'm afraid you have to read and know what you're doing. And it's also good to know why you doing it. There's nothing wrong with rooting/flashing but i advice you familiarise with your phone first. Try to know each of every apps that comes with your phone. That way you'll know what app doing what, either that app is important for your daily use or not. Later on you can freeze (by rooting ) or uninstall any unwanted apps from your phone without distrupt your daily usage or the phone system itself :-) All these rooting or flashing thingy sounds really cool but i still have no idea about it. I will read up on it. *wish there was a shorter says-it-all article available* :S Anyways, thanks for everything so far. Will ask again when i have questions
