I cant find any information about rooting really does void warranty in malaysia.  But, i think its true. What i want to ask, are there anyone who already sent there device to samsung?

if i root my device, then unroot again.  can i cheat the samsung for waranty? newbies for sgs2. please help, TQ.
*
Don't have to worry. I've rooted and flashed a custom ROM. But before I sent in my phone, I flashed back stock ROM + stock kernel, but the flash counter in download mode is still >0 as I didn't use the USB jig. There is no problem claiming warranty at all.

SGP Neo Hybrid and very satisfied with it. It was not a very tight fit initially, but I've put a piece of paper behind the phone and a few small chunks at the edges, and now its a nice snug fit smile.gif

Neo hybrid has the best look of all the cases available though, IMO. Plus ultra crystal bundled is just great

Anyone interested in 3M Estoc screen protector?
It is supposedly matte (anti fingerprint), yet provides clarity close to a clear protector.

The review can be found here

Anyone wants to start a bulk to save on shipping costs?

Anyways, I've ordered some M3 Estocs to test, but I've gotta say, unless we buy about 10x units, it's still gonna be considerably more expensive then a pack of SGP protectors. Also, there's only one per pack vs the SGP's 2.
*
Hey Eiraku, are you interested to start a bulk purchase of the Estoc+ for LYN members? I read in the xda thread that for 3 pieces + shipping cost to Singapore, it costs about SG$26 per person.

Not sure if 10x units is a problem though, there seem to be interest here. How much do you roughly think it will cost if theres 10 units or so?

I need to go back to Gmarket to calculate, but it should be around $22-24 each (usd) for a bulk of 10, the thing itself is $19.99 sans shipping.

Will wait for the good news after you review and is interested to bring it in smile.gif

Hi guys,

something to ask:

this is my setup-

baseband version:  I9100KG6
KERNAL VERSION: 19100XXKH3-CL479037 se.infra@SEI-15 #2

What is the different between modem and kernal? WHICH one is my modem and what i my kernal?

also where could i get Ninphetamine 2.0.2 and SpeedMod s2 k1 T27? and between this two if i flashed them, could i still use with KH3 modem?
*
Your modem is KG6, kernel is stock KH3 kernel from intratech if I'm not mistaken. Yes you can mix and match any modem with any kernel, just read clearly the description for each in xda.

If you go and read the XDA forum on any kernel or any rom, you will see different opinions. Differences in opinions arose as each user use their phone differently. Each user is at a different place on the earth. Each user uses a different telco

So your best answer is test it yourself. Read all comments including mine with bowls of salt. Use other people opinions just as a guide. If majority is praising certain roms, kernels perhaps than you can try. If majority is condemning it, it might be wiser to stay away unless you want to convince yourself

As a standard operating procedure, I always advise users to wipe their phone if you are moving from one cook to another. It will eliminate a lot of issues. Just use Titanium Backup to backup all your apps/data. Restoring back usually takes 5-10 minutes only. I always believe in starting from a clean rom. I have been practicing this principle in all my Androids . The only thing you need to do manually is to place back your widgets on homescreen. Your set fiormat where /how you place your apps is all restore back . However if your present rom is Samsung TW and the cook rom do not have TW as option, than you will not get this restore back
*
Uncle Benny, so for ROMs with touchwiz, I can backup the touchwiz launcher's data as well? doh.gif

Been painstakingly putting back the app pages and arranging it one by one after flashing each ROM.

Can anyone tell me if TitaniumBackup works for backing up TouchWiz data or the icon arrangements?

Lookout is a good choice. The new update does not drain battery at all. And you get extra features getting the premium one.

tried ragemod wif 3.7.4, battery drain like there's no 2moro  doh.gif

Been using 3.7.4 with RAGEmod v1-T30 with no issues whatsoever, great battery life and good performance.
Underclocked it to 800MHz and undervolted it. Temperatures are decent as well.

Now on 3.7.5 with RAGEmod with same configuration, seems to drain more, not too sure how the modded script in the ROM affects the kernel. But CPUstats are showing correct frequencies.

Temperature of my phone reached only 36 degrees celsius on normal usage + light games. Reached about 37-38 when I'm playing games like Riptide GP.

While charging in a warm room, the temperature went up to 44 degrees though. In an air-cond room, the phone feels much cooler while charging.

Any user of sgp neo hybrid here? Thinking abt what case shud i get along with the s2...
*
Neo Hybrid is a handsome looking case. IMO nothing beats the look of the hybrid.
Protection wise is pretty good. Grip is not as good as TPU cases.

The fit is pretty snug, but I made it tighter by inserting some paper in the silicone case.
I have the case for about 2 weeks now, no problem about the silicone (camera area) being loose.

That being said, my phone rarely goes about 40 degrees except during charging. That's the only time i feel the case is hot. But no loose fitting.

I do not see the difference between the SGP ultrasilke and the neo hybrid. The ultrasilke looks thinner and more uniform while the neo seems to have rubber?
*
The inner silicone case of the Neo is the same as the ultra silke. The Neo Hybrid simply has an extra polycarbonate outer bumper with some small latches to hook onto the silicone inner casing.

Sigh, if Batista ROM is sticking to the CPU scripts, I will soon revert back to Cognition.

Quite a pain to make changes to the scripts instead of using SetCPU

There you go. Good ROM for first timers smile.gif

And it really isn't hard to learn. It took me only an hour to read and complete my root + custom ROM flash from scratch

just found out i know a few people who have a smartphone but is not actually using any data plan. they disable data on the phone.

they said with wifi all over the place (office, home, coffeeshops), no need for data plan.

just wondering... how many sgs2 users are also like that? can ar? i find that a bit kiasu, no? no offence to those who are doing this... but i tot smartphone is like having data on the go...

so for these ppl... cannot really viber in bus, lrt until you reach a place with wifi... no?
*
I on wifi the whole day smile.gif
I'm only out of wifi areas occasionally, thus I'm using prepaid Maxis data which keeps me connected for "in-between" wifi areas.

I do not consider myself having a data plan as it's prepaid and can be stopped anytime.

And with all the push services now, no problem being disconnected for awhile.

It is up to the end users what they wish to do with their phone, I don't think anyone should be judged. It is their phone, not yours.

Counting some guys who have expressed interest before, we have 5 takers already. 5 more slots to go.

Oh, and Estoc's thinner then UltOps so screen sensitivity feels great!
*
I'm interested in the Estoc as well smile.gif

EDIT: Eiraku, can you post about how scratch resistant the Estoc+ is, probably after a few days of usage? My ultra crystal has a few hairline scratches on it already, and I wouldn't mind replacing it with the Estoc if it is really scratch resistant.

Wasn't it you who first contacted me about the Estocs anyway lol.

Scratch resistance is actually normal, like ultra crystal. Only diff is the scratches supposedly heal themselves (through rubbing in circular motion or by itself, magically). I can attest to the healing of microscratches through rubbing, happened a few times already.

Yeah haha. Drop me a PM too if you're starting a bulk smile.gif
