Hi all, new S2 user here! =)

I just have a few questions to ask here.

I'm looking for a good GPS software to use, I've heard that PaPaGo is quite good, but I can't find it on the android market. Also, does using GPS softwares like these incur any extra charges? such as Data charges or stuff like that. I know the "Allow Data transfer" has to be on but if I turn that on wouldn't data charges apply?
I don't have a data plan subscription so any advice and help would be greatly appreciated! =D

just found out i know a few people who have a smartphone but is not actually using any data plan. they disable data on the phone.

they said with wifi all over the place (office, home, coffeeshops), no need for data plan.

just wondering... how many sgs2 users are also like that? can ar? i find that a bit kiasu, no? no offence to those who are doing this... but i tot smartphone is like having data on the go...

so for these ppl... cannot really viber in bus, lrt until you reach a place with wifi... no?

Well, I would really love to subscribe to a data plan but I find that it costs more than on my current plan. Reason being that most of my friends either don't have smartphones, or they don't have data plan, so I still rely on traditional sms and calls tongue.gif

So in this case, the costs from these extra sms and calls will make my bill so huge that I find it not worth it to subscribe to a data plan. biggrin.gif

You could use market enabler / market access for those apps that are not available in malaysia.
*
But thats only if your phone is rooted right?

I don't wanna root my phone... yet. biggrin.gif
I used to have a Galaxy Ace rooted so I know what you can do when it is rooted. So, I'm waiting till I'm bored and tired of the S2 before I flash any custom roms or root. tongue.gif

No..I restore setting already  laugh.gif

I think it has something to do with how your Google Account is set. blink.gif When I had my old Galaxy Ace, the old market showed USD too. But after I installed the new market, it switched to MYR. Also, I went into my Google Account and tried to switch things around. i dunno.. tongue.gif

Thinking of buying SGS2. But I don't like the SGS2 widgets. So today I went to a Samsung store and tested out installing some HTC Sense-like widgets...

Actually, I can't understand the logic behind using stylus for taking notes on a capacitative touchscreen. I mean, when we write, our hand naturally rests on the surface right? Try it! So when you write on a tablet or even the Galaxy Note with a "pen-like" stylus, our hand will naturally rest on the device itself and cause it to register our hand right? So in order to avoid this we lift our hand up when writing and this becomes uncomfortable. =/

Anyone got the same thoughts as me?

Added on September 10, 2011, 12:49 amAnd.. how to make google maps works like garmin.. i mean got sounds, directions etc, or its not possible..
*
Try Google-ing it. Now Google Navigation is still in beta and can only be used by users in the US of A. There are ways to crack it/mod it etc. and guides are all over the internet. There is one particular source that has managed to make it work in Malaysia too with a video to prove but... so far, I have not been able to make it work. cry.gif

You went there too? Yes today...

That is before they perform, as you can see the conductor is not there yet.
risking of getting warning as they don't allowed any cameras or recording machine inside the hall

a bit disappointed, maybe I listen to Berliner Philharmoniker too much.
*
Yea I went yesterday. biggrin.gif You listened to Berlin Philharmonic under Herbert von Karajan? I think we are contaminating the thread... tongue.gif
