Hey,my black brick is a legendary brick which endured pretty much everything I throw at it you know...
Even had 4 OS in single phone at 1 time. When I sold the phone I asked the buyer to take care of that phone laugh.gif

I don't have my SGS II yet but already have plenty of action with my friends SGS II whistling.gif

What can I say, after years of using mobile OSes, the N900 was an eye opener. I would have prolly used it up to now too if I didn't fry mine lol (which still is, I think, one of the very few totally fubared N900).

I nearly fubared my SGS2 too (when my EFS partiton disappeared). I'm beginning to be known as the Gadget Destroyer in my circle nowadays lol.

Anyways, welcome to the Droid Army (Skynet lol?).

I m on digi using wcdma only. My data jumps between 3g and h. H is when active. But so far no disconnection or lost data. Using kg2 modem. Maybe u can try different modem version n see.

On the KH3 modem right now. Previously, KG1/KF2/KE4 was good, try and see?

For best performance in emergency situations, hold the SGS2 upside down. Seriously, surf the anantech review for the reason.

Turning off my Tasker screen auto data off profiles, seeing that my daily use time is now safely spanning a full day at work, thanks to the Momax 2700mah batt.

Let's see how well it performs with constant 3G.

I could never swype as quickly as I could tap. Prolly never got used to it.

Sticking with Smart KeyPro for now, with multiling as backup - the only two I know of with Japanese input options (SKP is better at English and has more options, MLK is better in Jap but isn't as customizable/accurate in normal typing).

Ugh, such a slow day in SGS2land, no new releases of Anything. Sigh.

On a different note, the self healing thingy on the Estoc+ seems to really work, kinda. At least on microscratches. Wonder how long it'll last though.

Hi, I have a question,

If I buy the phone through Digi's plan (RM 13xx for 2 years) is it the sim card that is locked or the phone? Will it still work if I insert a non-Digi sim card? I will be studying overseas in a few days time and I'm planning to buy and bring the phone over there.
*
Nope, all Malaysian sets must be sold unlocked by law.

So no worries mate, though you'll still be under contract unless you can have someone take over.

new is always better. true story.

as thought by barney stinson himself.

Awesome...

Now cracking 9h with 4h screen time, heavy surfing and SocialHub/Friendster, Twitter, Viber, Whatsapp, RSS and Email notifications (amongst others) running. Always on 3G too (never on WiFi). 31% left on the momax. Very nice, and it should be able to reach 10hr mark before dying.

Running VR2.4.2 + Ninpo's 2.1.3 with self modded all black theme, running 1000-200 with minimal underclocking. No tasker or JD or GreenPower or anything.

Happy enough. Plus I have a spare momax ready and charged close by.

Could've been better but batt life felt so good I messed around with a live wallie for about an hour. Bad move, as batt nosedived on standby after that, so I went back to my nice static image lol.

Anyone of u facing problems that marketaccess or marketenabler not working? Mine isnt sad.gif
One more thing, does the google maps for android support satellite view? Mine is version 5.6.2
*
Using MarketEnabler, old or new market spoof no problem here (on VR2.4.2 + Ninpo 2.1.3). Also using Gmaps 5.9.0 hacked navi, can use sat view without any issue.

ROM or Kernel problem? Speedmod seems to screw up some stuff due to ADB logger being disabled.

get sgp ultra matte from their website or from lyn. or another one would be the 3m estoc mentioned here few days ago
*
How matte do you want your screen? The SGP ultoptics is the clearest matte SP I know of. But after a week or two of heavy use it gets cloudy as hell from finger oils and becomes impossible to clean.

And the Estoc+ is more glossy then matte actually, though it's not as glossy as the ultra crystal or the Glas. It's easy to clean though, and it's harder to get fingerprints on it then normal glossy SPs.

And then there's Gadgetshieldz or BSE (or Incredible Shield). Not as clear as ultopts or Estoc+, and feels like sticky vinyl (which I hate)., at least it's not very glossy (because of the orange peel effect, which you might hate). And fingerprints don't really stick, plus it's nigh impossible to scratch.

And ALL the SPs I mentioned are MILES better then RM15 SPs, I can assure you. No idea about MartinFields tho.

yeah i came from htc hd2 and saw this device and was so excited bout its capabilities (hardware wise) and saw great future but suddenly it disappoints me..even dual core script is not out yet. waiting for checkrom..
worried it will just be like my touch 3g couldnt even last a year
*
There's always ICS to wait for. But yeah, after the initial surge of ROMs and tweaks, it has slowed down a bit.

But really, I'm enjoying USING the SGS2 as much as I'm enjoying tweaking it, so it's not really a problem.

Besides, I'm a hardcore VR loyalist. That should show how much I'm not a serial flasher - VR has been on a KG6 base for quite a while now, plus I even held back from going up to the latest 2.4.2 for a month or so after it was released (stuck to VR2.0 for quite a while).

Plus, aerobahn's hold vol to change tracks (now updated to work with power menu) made me plenty happy already this month.

HD2 android development started from nothing, SGS2 started from the top.
*
THIS.

And also HTC got lazy and used the HD2 as a base for all sorts of other phones, which meant easier cross ports. That's why we have Android AND WP7 running on it.

Plus, we can ALWAYS run en masse to the Nexus (or Galaxy or Droid or whatever) Prime when (and if it ever) comes out, and if it's really the next Google flagship. Dev should be rockin' from the start.

Although by that time we might have a great dev ecosystem going on for the SGS2 already, rite?

@Eiraku You lost your IMEI info recently is it due to the Battery Calibration app? Cos someone on XDA mention similar situation.
*
Yep, same app summore. Though I wiped stats this morning and nothing bad happened.

Curious.

after root, the warranty will be void?
no other way to reset to default rom so samsung cant know that i root before?
*
Yes it will be void and no, there is no way to blind Sammie to the fact you've flashed before, even if you clear the yellow triangle and flash counter, there's a second hidden counter you can do nothing about.

That being said, as long as it's not obviously and blatantly rooted, I don't think SME even cares about rooting.

Ask uncle benny, he has not only claimed FOC service from SME on rooted sets, he has even done so for blardy AP sets.

BUT remember, technically you HAVE voided your warranty, so SME CAN refuse service if you root.

So? Wanna join us in russian roullete?
