If you plan to keep phone for 1-2 years get extend warranty. it is not much more expensive

Screen size ; always love big screen. That is why my Dell Streak is my main phone. The SGS II only secondary phone, use only to test/experiemnt with roms. The new Galaxy Note will have the Dell Streak size ( slight bigger ) and SGS II performance - what a good 2-in -1 good combo

You need root only if you want to update yourself manually thro faking a telco ( using market enabler or market access) . Read page 1 faq if you dont know what this is

In my case, the maps just auto update itself without me even requesting. these map auto updates and other google apps update is common. You need not do anything at all

The dell default UI is poorly designed; just replace it with say Launcher Pro, or Zeam, ADW - you will see a 100% improvement. Use a cook rom , and the performance is up another 100%. If this phone is bad, I will not be using it as my requirements are quite high. It ranks 3rd in my favorite phones after SGS II, HTC Incredible S. It beats the newer Xperia Arc, old Galaxy S in performance. I sold it after I bought the SGS II . But after a month, I bought back a new set. That just shows how I valued it. Some things in life you just need to experienced it to appreciate its goodness. Fleeting impressions are not always correct

I never used Tab 7" as a phone - the phone function is just a bonus. It is just inconvenient. Use it to make a call is still OK but imagine taking a call while you are on the move, it is just not practical. So I am still puzzled why so many users wants the latest Tab 10.1 to have calls function

ROM Manager is unreliable when you wish to restore roms. It is compatible with certain roms of SGS II not all roms. You could have a 100% good backup, but pray you get a good restore. I always advise, if you use rom manger always test its restore - don't assume it will work
Nothing beats Clockworkmod - it is 100% reliable in backups and restore. CWM has never fail me

Use AGILE LOCK for the htc sense 3 lockscreen. No need root

Never like those lockscreen apps. Still prefer default - simple and just a swipe away to unlock

First time i hear battery can lag phone. What is the rationale
I am also using andida, bought 2 units. Never faced such issues. See no diference with original. For its price nohing to complain except its life slight shorter than original

For me, swype anytime. Swiftkey just find it horrible to use. Maybe is my familiarity with swype past 4 years
Tested swiftkey for tablets on both my tablets, again doesn't impress me

I don't think so. The last time when I was using the HTC Flyer, my palm never hit the screen. Just hold the stylus pen and write naturally. You might hit it if the stylus pen is very short like those stylus in the old windows mobile phones. Looking at the video, the pen is not short

Red ? First time hearing such issue. Better send in for checking - possible cause is screen burn and faster than normal degradation in the amoled display

A fellow user in my other Galaxy tab thread reported he change his glass display ( 7") for RM 380 inclusive labour at service center. So I reckon should be within this range
