Met a fellow headphiler this afternoon and together with his friends bought 6x FiiO E5s. Was curious what are they up to with so many E5s

They had actually found a sweet spot with the following triple amping configuration:

Sansa Clip+ > FiiO E5 > FiiO E5 > Headphones

He claimed that it works miracle on big drivers, 40mm and above

Yes it will. Especially if you use FiiO L3 to connect to your 4s. Not sure if your Sony model does have a dock out as well, you can use the FiiO L5. Without LOD, FiiO E6 using the you will only get much improved bass performance. With LOD, you will get additional improvement on clarity.

Yes it will. Especially if you use FiiO L3 to connect to your iTouch.

Sorry for the need to make this statement here. It is for the good of FiiO users in Malaysia.

All along, there are several online sellers of FiiO product based here in Malaysia. However, of late, some of these sellers are not honoring FiiO's standard 1 year warranty

Please be aware of the fact that E1 being the exclusive distributor is not obligated to honor any warranty for any product not dealt through E1 or its dealers. However, out of goodwill, will look into the merit of each case individually and decide on the next course of action. Basically, there are no such thing as warranty repair or tuning for FiiO It will be a straight forward 1 to 1 exchange Since, there are import duty and sale tax to be paid on the new replacement unit, charges do apply.

What is your source?

Punch defined as point of attack. In drums, it means the actual kick of the bass drum or pluck of the bass guitar string without the associated after resonance (low boom). Punchier therefore means tighter and less boomy bass.

Your E6 will work with getting you much higher volume to drive the headphones plus bass boost. However, if punch you are looking for over boom, you will need to consider your files and better DAC and amp.

Do understand that to get a tighter / punchier bass, you will need to improve clarity much more than just volume and bass boost. Based on your need for portability and budget constrain, your FiiO E7 will serve you well

Added on April 24, 2012, 1:24 amFor both laptop and iPad, the FiiO E10 is out. Can't connect to iPad. Left with only the E7 (16bit/48kHz) and E17 (24bit/192kHz). Since you have the budget, go with the E17 then.

The FiiO E10 is a DAC/Amp. Bro Nordingh is using the DAC of the E10 via the line out at the back to the CMoy amp. It is just his preference for the Cmoy amp's signature.

Yet to verify this matter, will try it the next few days.
