try using pliers? It happens to my nendo quite often and my fingers hurt.
I think pliers might leave a mark if you 'kiap' too hard though.

Added on September 6, 2011, 1:35 amaaaah but if your worried about breaking something i hear putting it in the fridge helps (for 15 minutes, helps with stickyness?)

left hand hold the straight part, right hand on the body and turn left hand it left and right while apply a little opposing force

pliers work, but might leave a mark, maybe you can put some blu tack between the plier and the joint so that it wont leave mark

Btw, not sure if any of you mentioned before...there's a shop in Tokyo Street @ Pavilion that sells some Nendos as well. The shop don't have any name, and I saw a few Nendos available, like Kuroneko, Mayushii, Tachimako and a few others.....price wise, I only able to check Tachimako, about RM180.
