after hear other alza owners so try put 2 cheapo VS. (zaptor gold & silver)
the cheapo VS buy >5yrs ago use on myvi & kelisa.
no improvement on manual cars.

notice gear changing very smooth on my auto alza
car pickup also more responsive.
can feel it in my buttock the alza is livelier than b4.

next service will try put ilidium plugs.
*
Halo... I hv Pivot VS from my previous car. Has been in the Alza since first week. So far so good. But I have changed the grounding cable. Previous set quality no good.

The rest are DIY from stage to stage / time to time.

1. added a under seat woofer and changed the door speakers.
2. put in soundproof pads on all 4 doors and roof. Much better and much solid the doors. No ding ding from roof when raining.
3. grounding cable with VS
4. Change tp Pireli the 6th month due to uneven wear on ori donut silverstone.
5. front strut bar
6. DIY front DRL

last weekend, DIY inject chasis foam into door sills and A-pillar. Lesser road noise and quieter cabin now.

The VS does give a bit better response.. not a lot.. but car light is much brighter.

I actually changed to iridium plug, but did not feel any better except better pull in high rev / rpm.

I did not add any tweeter.. initially want to.. but I change the speakers to component set.

As some installer just stick it on the dash.. haha.. but clearer sound from component set, so I dtop there.

Wow... I really donno what to say. My Alza already 2 years.. so far okay.. except some similar one from list above.

What's the outcome after P2 service?

I add some of my 2 cents thoughts below.

QUOTE(Eithanius @ Sep 6 2012, 06:01 PM)
My piece of junk masuk kilang this morning for follow up inspections and repairs of the following problems:

1. Cabin light not always turned on when car doors are opened
Action taken: Minor repairs.
[Aaron] I had this before, only to 2 doors.  They cleaned and lube it in previous service.

2. Rattling sound of loose parts on B-pillars.
Action taken: Dismantle and inspect
[Aaron] both b-pillars?? the sound comes when u used the seat belt or when not using?

3. Brake and acceleration pedals vibrate when wiper is running or when there's external loud noise.
Action taken: Further testing required
[Aaron] did not face this.. also dont understand how this happens

4. Front suspension noise when going over road humps.
Action taken: Problem failed to turn up during test drive. Have to test drive more.
[Aaron] have this too, but not all times.

6. Soft-voice over bluetooth calls on phone during high speed where engine and road noise are intruding.
Action taken: P2 will consult supplier Betamek
[Aaron] connect failed since day 1.. so dont care.

12. Weird paper-like noise inside main air-cond blower.
Action taken: Dismantle dashboard to investigate ph34r.gif
[Aaron] I noticed if I put the aircond blower position on face and legs, the paper noise is there.. when I put it straight to face, then no more.  Can check.  Hope you understand what I try to say here.

im a new owner. Can't resist because Livina is way too expensive.

Read thru the forum, agreed that Alza has its problem. Thank god for the community here. That's y decide to proceed with it. Hope no regret.

Gonna tweak it like a nerd rooting their androids.

oh yeah!!

Hi, welcome to here. This is a great place to find out more abt Alza and for members to share ideas.

Alza is a great car with it's price. Previously, I'm searching a car which is big enuf for 5, good luggage space, good leg space front and rear, fold-able flat 3rd row seats, ease of maintenance...Alza fits my budget and requirements.

Feel free to ask questions if you can't find any ideas from the main 1st page. :>

so fast go foam your door sills...? ph34r.gif

I always thought the first place to foam is the chassis, not the door sills...
*
Hi Eithanius, there are a few choices avail.. some wants a better chasis for better handling.

But some (like me) will go for quieter cabin so door sills and A-pillar is the one to go for...also this option makes the body more 'solid' a bit.

I did some research here and there, some said always go for chassis first... some said no really which depends on what u want first.
But I did the sills and A pillar first.. and outcome is satisfied for merely RM110 plus effort to DIY.
I covered the doors with pads already.. close door also solid.
Now planning to make the rear quieter...

Guys.. for those new owner who need to mod in order optimize their Alza .. what do you suggest/recommend?

priority now blush.gif  :

1. VS
2. K/N Filter
3. GC
4. Strutbar

oh yes, shud i change the battery to MF or shud i just retain ori? what do you think?

or mebe i just buy the battery head cover.. like those ol skul days.  unsure.gif
*
my suggestion ehhh...actually depending on your budget for these as new car.

1. VS with GC sekali. (get a good GC as cheap one faded color on the rubber and rusting easily)
2. Strutbar
3. sound proofing (you get the alza first, see if you are satisfied with the car, else...shld do this first)
4. pollen filter (aircond blower filter - my alza dont have this.. I bought it from SC)
5. Extractor replacement for better pickup.
6. K&N (depends on how u drive, if u always rev to the max..meaning playing high rev, then change else save for later.)

many other DIY can do.. like I did for interior..nothing fancy but only stage 1 (legroom + glovebox). Will continue stage 2 which is in planning.

Battery, got warranty mah.. dont change first.. I remembered my alza comes with MF, but tipu one.. still need to put battery water. hahaha

mmm, putting tab as ICE...mmm, then I shld think of putting my note as ICE.. hehehe. But need to get a nice holder that can be place at nice place. Will think abt it first..as there are still many things to do to my alza.. step by step.

I've added insuflex, but not as good as I hoped for. So I would label it too pricey. Insuflex is the soft type, the hard type cancel off other noises that the soft material cannot. So unless you stick a lot of things onto your car, otherwise insuflex is just one part. But of course, having some is better than having none.

Tyres makes more differences, so that should be the first thing. Extra budgets can go to insuflex.
*
I pakai the hard pad rectangle type. I added kat 4 doors with the pads, the material costs me abt <RM300 then DIY.
Close door also solid feel. Now added chasis foam on the door sills and A pillar.. lagi better, just RM110 aje.

insulflex covers the whole door panel. pretty easy to DIY. If tampal directly to the aluminum door like urs, the result should be better because vibration on door cancel direct by pad upon wave/frequency impact.

alza door like that meh?
*

[/quote]

the insuflex is tampal on the panel? u mean the whole behind plastic panel?

The pix is sample.. I cld not find just now.. this is the alza one.user posted image

I tampal just like the pix, the 'outer' layer. each door abt 13-15 pads (mixture of 2 types of pads).
I got it direct from the boss of supplier. I purchased from him since years ago for my previous cars. Kembara, Stream and this Alza.

Cost me around RM300, then I get extra for the roof last year.

After 9 months i noticed there is wind sound from the driver side door.. and it is the weather strip near the side mirror. I think the rubber shrinked a bit after parking under the sun. I put bitumen to cover the gap.

I know some of you have the suspension knocking sound when going thru bumps.. only certain time it occurred. P2 ppl test, said nothing. They just tightened everything up. Ended up I dont care as it is not everytime and most important that the suspension works as it supposed to.

Huh? This is totally different from mine. Those looks like non-slip mats.
My insuflex looks like this >> picture attached.
One side smooth, one side pores. At least 1/2 inch thick, or maybe 1cm... can't remember.
*
Ya.. it is abt 1 cm thick... saw that before and used it before in my much previous cars. Outcome so-so.
From inside, the plastic panel feels more solid when u knock it.

QUOTE(embekism @ Sep 26 2012, 07:19 PM)
not really effective because wave/sound is not absorb directly. preferred aaron's sound proof method. just like the one perodua stick on the front bonnet. but now, they dont do liddat anymore.

then you put the insulflex to cover the big hole. sure the outcome will be more significant.

Added on September 26, 2012, 7:24 pmmetal will vibrate the external sound therefore enhance it. if car door made of wood, sure kuayet one. hahahaha
*
That is why I used this pads since my previous cars. After put this pads, when I knock on the door panel from outside, no more 'Milo' tin sound. Also big different when we close the rear door. Last time feels like the door gonna pecah and break into pieces. Now no more 'pllllank plannk' sound.

My friend also surprised when closing the door last time, saying that 'ya.. can expect much from 50+k car'.
After install, he is really surprised !!

QUOTE(n8210 @ Sep 26 2012, 09:04 PM)
Well, that's what I replied, not really effective. You need to combine the soft and hard type together, which burdens the car with dead weight. Anyway, add turbo then you'll forget about other things.
*
QUOTE(embekism @ Sep 26 2012, 10:28 PM)
not heavy la. this car feel too light.

Added on September 26, 2012, 10:35 pmdont think about turbo. koyak your wallet later. better feed our children makan then spent so much on the car. hahahaha

mod skit skit saja la.

Added on September 26, 2012, 10:38 pmcan feel the different after installing vs edge. rpm climb much faster than usual.

Turbo..no need la.. if nak turbo, we better get a car with turbo built in.

Which buyer selling the insuflex (your type)? Don't get mine...
*
The 'insuflex' that i know from my supplier. Size is 3ft x 1.5ft. Cost RM25 per sheet.
He previously asked me to get the pads rather than the foam sheet (insuflex).

QUOTE(Eithanius @ Sep 27 2012, 02:35 PM)
So in short for my case, since my problematic piece of junk needs to go in and out of P2 SC regularly, positive cable is not recommended. And since no positive cable, I will have to wait until my current battery dies off, then only install the VS on a new battery... Right...?
*
Positive Cable with volt meter.. a good one. Not easy for DIY. Again, I still cant imagine your alza got so many probs.

Some SC very particular.. will blame any products u installed to your car. I remembered previously when I complain to SC on the steering vibrates...they blamed the front strut bar. I ignore them and go to my tyre mechanic.. it is the tyres, after changed, no problem until now.

Wow..to many to reply here for previous posts.

1. The aircompressor once kicks in, it draws much power (electric)..that is why flickers. A good VS or battery (higher rate) may help. It is kind of heavy and the battery seems too small to take the load. Next round once the battery kong, I will change to MF with higher spec as I have 'small' underseat woofer and I pump up the headunit's volume averaging 12-14 most of time.

2. Don't change the speaker first. After you changed, also wont help much. I heard that some alza owner add in the sound proof, the 'bass' is better. Not for me as my expectation of bass it higher. blush.gif

3. I previously changed the speaker first, the HU can't boost the new higher spec speakers..and hardly any bass also.
Unless u want a more clarity sound.

4. i wld suggest add sound proof first on 4 doors, then see how is it. Our ears has many preference from one ppl to another. Like me, I want clear sound / voice with some good bass. So I tune the HU to lower bass and okay treble for good voice and clearity. Then if nak bass, add a 10" underseat woofer like I did. Adjust the frequency both ends.. done.
All this as entry level sound system utilising existing headunit. thumbup.gif

5. The 4 doors sound proof pads is good to have.. just around RM300 (mixture of 2 types of pads for value and effectiveness), I think now price a bit more... can buy bulk then cheaper. DIY lo... at least close door also no plank plank milo tin sound.

6. Bro lowstate, chasis foam on chasis wont help much in soundproof. Handling yes. If nak mixture of some better handling and soundproof (road / tayar noice), I DIY - put foam into A pillar and door sills. Just 2 cans, cost me RM110 (I selling this as my friends asking me to get it from supplier).

DIY will give more knowledge and know the alza better. I can give guide / tips pun.. I think many sifus can give guidance too. Some also get me to do it for them with some small fees (pads or foam).. some DIYer DIY themselves and ask me to be there for guidance or help when needed. (provided the timing is right la) cool2.gif

But again, all these choices are open to each individual in priority. No right or wrong. icon_rolleyes.gif

found someone selling HKS Grounding cable for only RM15 and PIVOT VS for only RM65 in myalza.com, possible?
QUOTE(tyenfei @ Sep 28 2012, 04:16 PM)
i use that before  tongue.gif don't waste money for that. the effect only for a while, not going last long.

if you read tru all the info page at myalza.com .. got feedback that cheap GC come out bubble. Some become powder  shakehead.gif

my blog also got a little info for the kind of VS. under [Fake Imitation Pivot Raizin Voltage Stabilizer - Info Sharing]

I use 3 different kind of Pivot. Now still keep 1 for show how bad is it ..the fake product laugh.gif
*
I agreed with tyenfei... don't waste the money on cheap GC. I tried one before.. tak boleh pakai..look nice.. but it gets rusted, the 'rubber / plastic' covering the cable also change color due to heat and poor quality.

then i bought one...forgot the brand dah.. almost rm100 (if not wrong).. so far so good.

Pivot tu fake one la... I can get this GC and pivot much cheaper. I tried this VS on a kembara...no different.

the real pivot is priced 180-200 if i remembered correctly. The good VS gives better brightness to the headlamp.
