I'm no sifu, but I would suggest for glossy white walls (needs good finishing or the gloss will accentuate the imperfections) and bold coloured curtains like red or orange.
What is your flooring like?

Can try have your door as whites as well (but will cost more to paint n maintain).
My suggestion, is try limit your colors theme to 3 colors. White goes well with any colors i think. Pick another 2 colors for your furnitures, curtains, etc.

Don't agree that having the doors in white is hard to maintain. In fact I have been having my bedroom doors and frame in shades of white for so many years and do not have any problem in maintaining them. tongue.gif
Of course, if you happen to stain them, quickly wipe the stain off with a damp cloth.

Hey xenos since the sofa is black you can play with a lot of colours. Are u the sort u want spacious bright airy feel or cosy space feel? I notice that the trend is moving towards a low contrast navy blue type of wall colours. It sounds horrible when u try to imagine it but go to ikea and you can see how dark furniture and dark walls work quite harmoniously. They even have Jotun colour codes on the walls in ikea showspaces.

If you want your furniture to stand out then go for contrasting colours.

If you have a picture of your own room, u can upload on the Jotun Paint website, and then try the different colours on your living room.

Link is here: http://colouradvisor.jotun.com/countrys/eng/

Can play until u find the right combination, i kinda like it.
