One of the assignments for week 2, David Beckham!
I tried to improve on the stroke, my lecturer said my stroke is too fine and overall picture is too smooth in my previous drawings. Tho I actually like it super smooth (more towards fine art), but she said, don't be too smooth, at least the eyes will have something to see other than just a super smooth portrait XD
And I also tried to be abit more "daring" on the tone? Not sure if that was accomplished

i don have the reference so i just anyhow pick a reference and show u usually what i did before i start to draw.I tried to improve on the stroke, my lecturer said my stroke is too fine and overall picture is too smooth in my previous drawings. first just draw roughly the head shape and face direction..then get the position and size of the face features..just draw them in box will do.
then roughly study the light source and get the placement of shadow and highlights..(red for shadow, orange for highlight)..lets say the right part is 30%..then ask urself how much difference is no2 no3 no4 and so on..it will definitely something like no2 60%, no3 70% no4 85% something like that..then when u think its fine, for the highlight..most of the time it will be a strong light on the cheekbone and nose.
after that, only start with ur portrait and shade according to what you've studied from the reference just now. =) hope its not too long-winded..
just sharing what i did last time. =)) cheeersss.
