QUOTE(barca96 @ May 1 2012, 10:37 PM)
Did he attend university?
If yes I can imagine him studying philosophy or psychology.
*
I don't think so. But most probably he has read more books than many average university students/grads have, including me laugh.gif And his favourite genre are poetry (mostly Catalans) and politics iinm, so you can imagine where he got his ideas from. And remember the comment was made when he was 29. He was still an active footballer back then, and yet he already seemed very articulate about political subject.

QUOTE(Adryan @ May 2 2012, 08:30 AM)
Yup. I think Messi is a better player overall. He's not just a goalscorer, he's an all rounder. Back when he was younger, he was said to be an individual but to be honest, I have no problems with him. Good team player as well for me.

True about Valdes. He's certainly not a terrible player but I feel he's behind Pepe Reina and Iker Casillas for the number one spot in Spain. (Well, I'm a Liverpool fan an I know Pepe has been poor but still love the man!)

It's unlikely a player has a 100% completion rate and i appreciate players like Xavi or Messi trying something amazing. If it doesn't come off, i appreciate it and when it does, it's amazing (like his assist for Keita) but remember the goal Real Madrid scored against us in the first el classico. It was like so early in the game and I think Valdes gave the ball away too cheaply.
*
...and Valdes continued to play the passing style didn't he? And he did pretty well afterwards right?

For me there's a reason Valdes has been trusted as our number 1 GK ever since his 02/03 season. And about comparison with Pepe and Casillas, I have nothing too much to argue. Both Valdes and Pepe haven't got many chance to prove themselves on the international stage, so any direct comparison will be difficult.

I just know that he is set to be our no 1 for many years to come, since La Masia has yet to produce another GK prodigy yet.

Tito Vilanova signed a two-year contract this Friday morning that will keep him at FC Barcelona through June 30, 2014

Jordi Roura will be the assistant manager and Aureli Altimira will be the physical trainer

Tito Vilanova signed his two-year contract this morning in Sandro Rosell’s office. Vilanova, who will be FC Barcelona’s head manager through June 30, 2014, put his name to paper as President Rosell; vice-president of Sports, Josep M. Bartomeu; football director, Andoni Zubizarreta, and the manager’s representative looked on.

Furthermore, during the signing ceremony, Jordi Roura signed his contract as well. He’ll be Vilanova’s assistant manager and Aureli Altimira will be the team’s physical trainer.

With Tito Vilanova at the head of the Barça bench, the style of play, which has characterized the team these passed four years, is guaranteed. The Bellcaire d’Empordà native is the 16th Catalan first-team manager in FC Barcelona history.

So basically, there is not much change in our coaching team. IINM we are looking for a new GK coach.

QUOTE(fJok3R @ Jul 16 2012, 07:26 AM)
btw, how's you guys take on javi martinez, if and IF barca would really pay the buyout clause of 40mil, do you reall think he's worth it?
*
I don't think he's worth 40ME. I think he should be rated at 25ME at most. But considering Athletic is not in the position to be forced to sell, and Javi himself seem happy to stay, I think our chance is very slim, to buy him at 'reasonable' price I mean.

I'm happy if we just settle with either Muniesa and Bartra. It's time for them to make the step up.

Lemau gila transfer window ni laugh.gif laugh.gif

QUOTE
FC Barcelona’s economic vice-president Javier Faus maintained the club must take a prudent approach in the face of Spain’s economic crisis, despite signing off on record profits of Eur48.8 million for the 2011-12 season.

Friday’s figures mark a significant achievement for the Primera Division giant, which had targeted a return to profit following losses of Eur9.3 million and Eur83 million in the previous two seasons. Speaking during his end-of-year financial report, Faus revealed Barcelona increased its revenues by Eur21.5 million to Eur494.9 million and cut its expenditure by Eur31.5 million to Eur441.1 million. In terms of costs, the club reduced its spending by 6.6% from the previous year. Faus stated that this change is mainly due to Barcelona failing to win the league title and therefore avoiding having to pay Eur12 million in bonuses to its players. However, he noted: “If we had won the Liga the overall surplus would have been Eur36 million and it still would have been the best end-of-year figure in the history of the club. It’s not true that Barça saved itself Eur50 million for not winning the Liga.”

Faus said that revenues increased by 11%, noting in particular “spectacular” ticket sales that allowed the club to post record ticketing income of Eur50 million. However, the vice-president admitted that media revenue, specifically television rights, “has topped out and we don’t expect an increase in the next five years.” Barcelona’s total debt, which once stood at Eur420 million two years ago, has been reduced to Eur335 million with Faus stating that the club “needs to be cautious” if it wants to take on “ambitious future projects”.

Speaking at his end-of-year address last month, Barcelona president Sandro Rosell announced that planned renovations at the Nou Camp stadium had been put on hold despite the then projected record financial results. Rosell insisted that a revamp of the world-famous Nou Camp would not be able to happen until the club’s debt is further reduced. Last September, Barcelona announced plans to add 10,000 seats and install new VIP boxes at the Nou Camp, which currently has a capacity of 90,000, and also remodel the area surrounding the stadium (Espai Barca) and build a new arena (Palau Blaugrana) for the club’s basketball team. Amid Spain’s economic crisis, Faus on Friday maintained that Barcelona “reduce the debt to sustainable levels” and, above all, “not take on more debt.” He added: “We have to prepare for what could happen in the near future and have stronger assets. For ambitious real-estate projects we need a healthy balance sheet.”

QUOTE(fJok3R @ Jul 24 2012, 10:28 AM)
i don't see the need of signing another forward, or even another player in any position anymore for this season, unless injury is hitting us like nobody business like last season
*
Yes, I feel the same too. I don't mind one name to come here however: Higuain laugh.gif laugh.gif Other than him, a big fat NO.

I think we are pretty much done with this transfer window. We may do well finding a good deal to gamble on a new defender, because I really think the like of Muniesa and Bartra are not there yet. But the problem is to find a defender with suitable profile. Atletico have just sold Alvaro Dominguez to Gladbach. What a shame sad.gif

QUOTE(uzary @ Aug 17 2012, 12:27 PM)
btw im a bit concern bout this new season, seems all other teams in Europe power up kaw2... this year CL will be tough..

team that i think is very strong other than our arc rival RM, are PSG, Man City, Chelsea and so on.. too many powerful team this season.. i hope we r able to beat all of team if we meet them.
*
Nah, I won't be worried. They are only spending only a shitload of money, but that's not necessarily mean they've improved their squad. They are at least gonna need time to get their team gelled nicely. If we are going to meet Chelsea again for example, they are going to play super defensive again, and still play Ramires at RW rather than Oscar or Hazard. If RM make Modric signing official, that would be interesting. Surely Khedira will be phased out from the team slowly.

QUOTE(Luis Enrique @ Aug 18 2012, 10:42 AM)
id rather we went for javi martinez instead of song.
*
We don't have the money. Simple. Case closed. Besides Bayern are surely gonna get him now.

After reading a bit around the internet. It seems like the world has just discovered another gem from La Liga.

Seriously, if a Spanish wanna have his chance to break into the Roja setup significantly improved, he must join a PL side, and Cazorla may have made the right move. I look forward to seeing Silva's place in Spanish NT squad under serious threat from Cazorla.

Michu also impressed as well.
