QUOTE(dundermifflin @ Sep 12 2011, 08:01 AM) perhaps its time to rest Anderson, unleash Fletcher. Rooney is the key player, but i fancy to resting him (and Hernandez) and give chance to Berbatov and Owen. we have depth on wingers, play Park, and ill give minutes to Valencia, if he fit. Ando started every game for us so far. But since its only the start of the season, it shudnt be tat much of an issue. Was he involved in the internationals last week? park-carrick-giggs/ando-nani in midfield for me. Rooney could do with a bit of resting tho. With his history, we dont want to overplay him too much, but be it saf/england managers, he never got subbed off!defenders, i dont think we have much option. just the play the best available. Ferdinand on the bench, if we have an extra defenders. wholesome changes probably affect the result, but TBH ill take a draw if its meant no fresh injury to players. plus, Benfica are 2nd strongest team in the group. draw away is a good result. and the benchwarmers are also an outstanding group players. if they play their games, its good enough to score the 3 points. |

Seems like SAF will play the old heads against Benfica reading what he said saying Basel at home will be a better place to blood them in. Easy decision to make since cleverley and welbeck are injured. Young and Jones might not be involved as well since its a new experience for them in the CL. SAF said Benfica play 3 in the middle..wonder how we'll line up.

Drama Queens.
Nobody said it was a flawless performance. You have to look at things in perspective. We played a side who on their day is as good as us in the last 7 years or so. They finished 2nd in the league for the past 5 seasons(1st once in tat period). When big sides meet, there will always be chances created no matter how good defensively they are. There's no point going berserk over every single details because of the quality the players posessed, 2-3 times out of 10, they will get through no matter what. Torres have sliced open many teams with his runs and movement before, including our vida and rio combo. Considering how young tat backline is, n how often they played together, they did well. Jones 19, smalling 21, evans 23, ddg 20.. Puts things in perspective. But i guess they must play perfectly every game to please us. |

Even world class players dont play flawlessly every game. Now we're expecting these young guys to perform like superman. But if you watch those superheroes shows/movies, even them lose to the villains and make mistakes. We're basically expecting the impossible.
