i needddd helpppppppppp....

This morning I try to reformat my ipad,
Now several hours later its stuck on a black screen with a white apple logo in the middle.

I tried holding the rest and home button down for 10 seconds, all it does is turn it off then goes back to the same black screen with the apple logo.

I also tried hooking it up to itunes and it doesn't recognize that its hooked up.

what can i do to fix it

When in recovery mode, iTune will automatically detect your iPad and said that you in recovery mode which need to be restore. In your case, I assume you will need to update to iOS 4.3.5 from iTunes. Just click restore and update, follow instruction by iTunes, u will get your iPad again..but with new iOS, there is still no fully jailbreak for it.

Did you "reformat" a JB Ipad? If yes, you were bound to hit this problem. You can restore it using itunes but to the latest firmware(4.3.5).
Is yours ipad 2 a wifi or 3G version? Have you saved preious 4.3.3 shsh.(If you have had earlier)

As I mentioned in the jb thread, iPad 1 can be jailbroken on 4.3.5, but it will be a tethered jailbreak which is a hassle but at least the iPad is still jailbroken.

Hi alif, i just did the exact same mistake as you did! Aiya... So dumb of me!

Now i have the exact same problem like yours, that is, repeated restart loop but hang at 40%, plug to itunes on win xp no detect, TU also no detect, press home + sleep also no effect. How did you solved yours?

By the way i'm also using ipad1 3g with jb 4.2.1.

Already installed latest itunes, plug with usb for 1 hour already still cannot detect. Is it bcoz my ipad keeps on looping the reformat process that stops itunes from recognising the ipad?
How long did you wait before itunes detected your ipad?

Should i just leave it looping until it runs out of battery, then charge it and see if the problem goes away? Or do you think those boys at Machines Midvalley can help?

Ah... I realised i attempted the DFU mode incorrectly. I released both buttons at 10 second instead of holding onto the home button for another 3 seconds. I'm gonna try it again tonite with another laptop.

By the way just for sharing, 4.3.5 only have tethered jailbreak. So that means once you did your JB, you shouldn't turn off your ipad otherwise you'd have problem turning it back on. Then you have to plug it back to pc, DFU and restart your ipad using some programme, i forgot something something sn0w.

By the way if you have jb 4.2.1 before this, try using TinyUmbrella to see if it can pull the blob from Cydia. If can then you're in luck, can downgrade the iOS and then fully JB again.

Added on September 1, 2011, 5:32 amjust an update.

managed to revive my ipad. and how lucky i am, i have 4.3.3 shsh saved on cydia!

now i'm running on iOS 4.3.3 and just completed jailbreak! i am so happy!!!!

You can jailbreak the iPad 1 using redsn0w. It will be a tethered jailbreak meaning that if your iPad runs out of battery or if you reboot your iPad, you will need to run redsn0w again to jailbreak. That is why it's called a tethered jb. You will always need to be tethered to a computer if your iPad reboots.

Yes, PROVIDED you have SHSH for the said firmware version saved. Downgrade or upgrade to any version you want using TU and Shift+Restore method.
