really really disapointed with our performance!...should be 6-1 not 3-1!  cry.gif laugh.gif
MOTM is a tricky one...

1st half - Henderson was MOTM..score a goal & creates 2 glorious chances for Kuyt & Suarez who both missed it

2nd half - I tot Adam outshine Henderson..superb long range passing..score a good goal with his weaker foot..and an assist for Skrtel
to those who quickly criticized Henderson & Adam whenever they played below expectation..just remember this name...LUCAS rolleyes.gif

Lucas did well in defence, to intercept, to breakdown opponent attack fluency.

Ya, a bit disappointment with no getting clean sheet, and more goal.

Also a bit worry on Carroll, once Carroll into the frame, players start to play long ball again.
Carroll is more easy to be handled by opponent defence, movement too slow and not like Suarez can pop out anywhere which create problem for opponent defence.
Carroll always being tight marked.

Kuyt is always the first one spring upfront on opponent GK loose ball, and first to react.

Remember his hattrick against MU, all were just simple tap in goal, capitalise opponent mistake, opportunity present.
If just ball watching, then there won't be goal at all.

I guess Duke has put it the way I meant to put it. His positioning and movement is extremely good, but when I watch him I don't see him as that much of a goal scorer. Perhaps, as someone earlier stated, his playing isn't so "easy on the eye" as other players. However, now pretty much all our midfielders and strikers can(and hopefully will) keep scoring goals.
Anyway, its early days yet. But thus far, which areas of the team do you think we need to bolster, in January?

If you expect some spectacular shot, bombarding opponent defender, turn opponent defender inside out, like Messi, Ronaldo type, putting dangerous curling cross in etc,
Certainly you will be disappointed.
But off the ball movement, like running into area and drag defender out of position, create space for teamate, chasing up the ball, disrupt opponent movement, tap in some loose ball due to better positioning etc, these all very important factors to the team as well to perform, to win in a match.

The word is clinical enough in front of goal, if want to challenge the top.

In PL, chance in front of goal is not easy to come by.
We can see from the 3 games (apart against Arsenal), created many many chances, and conversion rate is not high.
Against Sunderland, should be bury the game on first half, instead ended a draw.
Against Bolton, should/can score more than 3.
Against Stoke, 2 gilt edge chance not converted. If Henderson and Suarez converted the chance, the scoreline might be 1-2, and everyone is praising the team again.

Nowadays when team fail to win, all sort of criticism pop up instantly.
Last night, it is not a game that the team play poorly, even though it is not a pretty good one as well.

I don't know why so many people single out Carroll.
It is because of 35 million price tag?
I reckon so, as if price tag is less than 10 million, then probably the criticism may be less.

For yesterday match,
Yes, Carroll may not give a good performance, but it is not that as bad either. He has an average game. At least, it is miles better than previous few matches.

Yes, it is disappointing that he can't score for the last kick of the game, when in front of 12 yards, that, he tried to shift the ball to his favorite right foot, but somehow ball stuck under his feet, as well as one struck the post.

But no one criticise Adam for lack of controlling the midfield, lack of support on defensive side when the team is under pressure for most of 2nd half.

For Suarez substitution, KD may just want to rest him, for the sake future down the road,
and seeing the team under pressure for most 2nd half, he may just want to protect the 2-1 lead, instead go all way out.

Also Carroll may be useful for defending against set-piece, corner kick time.
Obviously from the Suarez substitution, KD just want to protect the 2-1 lead at that time, instead going all way out for 3-1.
Although personally I am surprise as well when Suarez being sub, and not Adam, but the move is understandable.

Defensive wise need a lot of hardwork, 1 clean sheet out of 7 games (including league cup), is a worrysome stat.
You need to able to win a lot of 1-0 in league especially in some tough match, and grind out result.

look at his facebook page

he just wanted to help the team

The team was winning at the moment with 2-1, not the like 1-1, whereby the team is chasing for winning goal.
Also it is just about 10-15 mins to go.

Resting, keep fresh and avoid injury as well as avoid get any card further (5 yellow, match suspension) is also helping the team because he is one of the important player that may dictate Liv can finish the top 4 or not.
There are 32 games to go and big derby match coming out.
