QUOTE(vaio2770 @ Sep 4 2011, 09:36 AM) i did it last month....made a bit for duit raya... ar-rahnu agrobank - only jewellery stuffbtw, afaik, arrahnu dont accept bullion and bar...only gold jewellery, correct me if i'm wrong ar-rahnu b.rakyat - jewellery and coins - kijang emas, ozzie nuggets and maple from UOB only. you must have the receipt/cert. be careful though on maple as some UOB cashier said, they won't buyback if already open the softcase, but another one said, can sellback as long no weight loss due to scratch and no dent. lustman, pm-ed |

QUOTE(smokymcpot @ Sep 5 2011, 02:19 PM) Would you guys get a 1/10 oz. maple for rm687 or a public dinar for rm816. Dinar is 916 and maple is 9999. Please do tell me why also. Thanks maple. should be around 3.1gm of pure 24k 999.9 gold 1st - it is recognized by LBMA (mentioned by goldchan). 2nd - if it is from uob - better (can go ar-rahnu bank rakyat during hard times) |

QUOTE(smokymcpot @ Sep 5 2011, 03:31 PM) Okay. Thanks guys for the input. Anyone here selling with receipt? I am still below 18, cannot go uob and get. do note that you can't sell back uob maple/nugget if the receipt is not your name. only the owner can sell back to UOB.so, decide carefully if you plan to buy one, if the difference than buying new is significant. |

yes, you are correct, but as mentioned, if the price difference from uob is significant. uob is around 3~4% spread while other trader is much more than that
but....any saving in form of physical gold is goooood |

QUOTE(FrancescoTop8 @ Sep 5 2011, 06:31 PM) Sadly, most of the information about the lelong event artificially disclosed, a bit like close tender. i've never entered agrobank lelong, but bank rakyat one, quite impossible to win lah.Even my friend, a bank officer in AgroBank doesn`t know about the lelong organized by his employer usually they do at the end of the month, around 22nd-ish for bank rakyat. they will put up notice and display the items. |

Added on September 7, 2011, 8:02 pm QUOTE(smokymcpot @ Sep 7 2011, 05:23 PM) Do you think getting the sri ayu dinar would be a good idea compared to the ones I thought of before? QUOTE(Nidz @ Sep 7 2011, 03:31 PM) emirates is cheapest, but dunno whether its easy to sell or not. nidz said already bro, long term - buy the cheapest 999.9 bar/dinar/gold or whatever gold. ignore the spread. gold is still gold.kangaroo is more well known, i think. pamp is most expensive, but very popular and well known for its premium. if it was me, for long term, i'll buy emirates. if for trading, i'll buy either kangaroo or pamp. anyway, all are still gold. u wont go wrong, unless gold market went into recession... trading/short term - buy the smallest spread. gold bouncing back to usd1859 due to weak us job data. it seemed we'll see UOB rm18x again tomorrow since today closing already rm179, tak sempat load today. come on bernanke give good impact to stock and push the gold a bit
bulukorek, if u go for long term, just buy the cheapest 9999 gold you could get since later you can always sell it as 9999 gold, not based on brands gold is gold as mentioned again and again in this thread. do take your time to read from page 1 buyback as guarantee is not really important here. wongmunkeong good comparison there, hence the standard question prophetjul was repeating to anyone, y did u buy gold? QUOTE(lustman @ Sep 9 2011, 06:10 PM) lustman, looking for physical ar-rahnu kah?i was in uob today noon and was negotiating a better rate for gold deposit. too bad it was almost lunch hour so their hq dealer is already out and they unable to quote me special price (said the cashier) and somehow, i felt something amiss on today rate, uob - rm181/g when world price is around usd1860....maybe USD has gotten stronger due to SwissFranc pegging, thus the higher price translated. cos i remembered last time when it hit usd1910, uob was only at rm185/g. was negotiating for rm180.50/g since for sure cannot get the 1kg rate 180/g too much difference and i felt nervous and not comfortable to buy at that standard price. went to watch "nasi lemak 2.0' with wife. it is hilarious and has interesting views on malaysian as malaysian. who knows after got back home, it dropped back to usd1840!!! phewwwwwww hong chai, can use interbank giro or rentas for immediate transfer. no need to carry cash so much lah. its almost usd1820 now. looking for this to continue and i will definitely wait until UOB open on monday This post has been edited by keii-kun: Sep 9 2011, 08:04 PM |

i go uob melaka lah cos i'm in melaka.
here still got 1oz maple and just reconfirmed with the head cashier, they still will accept opened maple as long no dent/scratch/weight loss > means it is still 'ar-Rahnu'able rentas can read here http://forum.lowyat.net/topic/1014248/+40#entry38621327 actually it is similar to meps interbank/fpx , reading further - better use meps ibg lah or ask the bank what is the fastest interbank transfer. |

QUOTE(lustman @ Sep 9 2011, 10:04 PM) i want to keep some dinar KGT for myself and in the meantime ar-rahnu them as well. actually i've been longing for some time but now it seem they're out of stock. for dinar kelantan / kgt i think you can get from nubex. was there on tuesday and saw this ustaz was collecting almost 100dinar only dinat kgt and oneasia gold are approved by BNM. honestly i don't understand by "approved". are other dinars no value? no i don't think so. it is not really BNM approval, its bank rakyat's policy to prevent abuse of ar-rahnu. try calling nubex, they are open on tuesday at damansara perdana |

QUOTE(lustman @ Sep 11 2011, 10:22 PM) tak apa, dia sikit2 lama lama jadi gold bar hahahahhahaa, got saving already good rite...rather than no saving or negative saving my first encounter with gold was via e-gold - usd470 / oz. those 12dailypro days. during that time, you can even request e-gold to withdraw physical at UK. |

QUOTE(Quinn @ Sep 13 2011, 08:02 AM) Quinn, thanks for the chart update. i'm planning to load up this morning after seeing the chart @5am, but asian market is already pushing up the price...most probably today UOB sells 178.xits hard for ciput investor to catch the low price , since the reversal happened end of asian market where banks closed off already hehehehe, might consider itrader lah like this to play paper gold. bigwolf, imho usd values goes up cos people are running away from CHF and EUR to USD. could be also like kitco news, most sellers are cutting some of their long position to cover losses. come gold, maintain below 1820 this morning please hmph, market buying on dips...
