1) Strengthened USD
2) Drop in demand (go check the market situation in India and China as they are the biggest consuming nations of gold)

Gold is traded against USD.

When USD depreciates, people get panic and worry.
When gold price drops, people get panic and worry.

Do you travel by road back to JB?
And the quantity you're going to purchase?

If it's in small volume, I think you can just insert the gold inside the pocket and drive back by car to JB.

Then no problem. You're safe.

No need. Just keep it in your wallet.
If they ask, just tell them you've been keeping this coins in your wallet for many years.
They can't "bite" you.

If you worry, I'd suggest you get someone to send you to S'pore by car.
You can easily skip the custom inspection travelling in car.
