The downward revision of FD rate corresponds to the reduction of the BLR.

I still remember the FD rates before the 1997 Asian economic crisis.
That time the FD rates are so lucrative. IIRC, it was 7 to 8%. |

Will someone please enlighten me about the above clause "Over the counter only" Thank you in anticipation. [/quote] Meaning it's not applicable for eFD (FD placement via M2U) and in order to get this promotional multi-tiered rate, you need to create a FD at the branch (over-the-counter). |

I agreed with cherroy. There's nothing fancy with FD.
If you're aiming for higher return, you may want to venture to other investment instrument like bonds. |

That's why they came out with "attractive" rates and schemes to "deceive" the general noob depositors.

QUOTE(erickyoko @ Nov 29 2010, 10:03 PM) hi...is FD calculate like this? The advertised rate is per annum basis. Your calculation is correct provided if you don't touch it for a year.if i deposit rm20000 for 1 year and interest rate is 2.85%...so i will get rm20570 after 1 year....then i can withdraw money and close my FD account? After maturity, you can choose to stay through auto renewal or withdraw it partially/fully. |
