Hi guys,

I have a PS2 model SCPH-39006 since Feb 2003 and now I'm playing it using NA + HDD since last year using HDLoader to bootup from HDD. I have no idea what kind of modchip is installed with my PS2, but I'm thinking of changing it to Matrix Infinity for direct access from HDD. Just for a discussion, what will make this switching worth the value? As I'm not sure what I can do by switching to MI other than direct access.

Anyone care to enlighten me? smile.gif

P/S: Should this question posted in this thread or here: http://forum.lowyat.net/topic/433595 unsure.gif

Added on September 18, 2007, 8:37 amAlrite, I just had a brief discussion with eKai regarding changing the modchip of my PS2 to Matrix Infinity (MI), but according to him MI couldn't be supported by model SCPH-39006/NTSC-J sad.gif

The alternative option will be the Crystal Chip and I'm looking forward for this Crystal Chip 2.0 Pro SLE. I wonder how actually would this modchip differ from MI and also the key features that could benefit after the changes made? unsure.gif

He told me try to seek for help, advise and guide from greyfox as he's having the same model of PS2 with me. Since I noticed NO PM in his siggie, I just hope he could share his experience with his PS2 here tongue.gif

P/S: I'm currently playing on NA + HDD with HDLoader smile.gif

sorry for late reply (so bz due I'm a father now)

95% i guess your modchip is blue chip

yes i use crystal chip the only original chip that compatible with my ps2
as far as i know MI or any MI clone will not work with my model.
what do you meant by direct access from HDD ??
izit dev 2 BOOT HDLOADER FROM HDD??

CRYSTAL CHIP have dev1 dev 2 , it use boot manager you can run elf from usb pendrive too. crystall chip sle can boot elf from crystal chip too.
it can play online game without dnas patch (it auto patch)
*
Hehe... it's ok and congratz to ya for being promoted to father title rclxms.gif

Hmm... I just have no idea what modchip is installed within my PS2, but I already placed my order with eKai and hope to get mine changed to CC 2.0 Pro SLE soon smile.gif. However, one of my fren having his SCPH-39006 installed with MI original and it's working huh.gif

Actually I really have not much ideas regarding the homebrew etc. Where can I learn more regarding the homebrew and make full use of the features and functions offered by the CC modchip? smile.gif

Perhaps u could guide me for those which most commonly being used?

your friend is so lucky , it depend on bios & ps2 mainboard version ,
as far i know scph 39006 have problem with MI a lot people compliant ,

you can do a lot of thing with homebrew ,
this is list of homebrew
SMS: Simple Media System player for the ps2
PVCS: Atari 2600 Emulator
PS2InfoNES, NES Emu for the ps2
Wonderswan emulator for the ps2
PS2InfoGB, Gameboy Color Emu for the ps2
UlaunchELF this is very useful application (you can transfer save file & etc)
edit
there is more homebrew for ps2 that i not list here
*
Oic, if tat's the case... better try not to gamble my PS2 with the compatibility with MI chip sweat.gif

Err... how do I run these homebrews? Via the MC, HDD or USB drive? As I read from another thread, there's compability issue with USB flash drive as well, rite? sweat.gif

According to eKai, using MI can setup DMS HDD EXP, I wonder if any similar apps or different version which applicable for CC chip? unsure.gif

I been reading some PS2 forums and articles regarding the Crystal Chip modchip. It seems to offer a lot of great features which I never know that could be happened on our PS2 sweat.gif. Anyway, for a starter... I just need to get this 2 to start utilizing my PS2 after the modchip installed, izzit?
Jones23's Modified Hacked R34 (CC firmware + Bootmanager)
Yoc's Essential Pack for BM 2.1.x (homebrews?)
(P/S: Izzit legal to mention it here? unsure.gif)

Is there any additional features, applications and homebrews to be explored? smile.gif

AFAIK, the R34 software is a compulsory installation, rite? As it is the firmware and sort of Operating System for the modchip in our PS2. Then do I still need this Essential Pack for BM if I'm to use ULe? unsure.gif

you got it wrong you need fw r34 .
i prefer using Ule rather than BM to launch elf

my setting is use BM to run ule than launch elf(from bm i set R1 button to launch ule)
*
Oh icic... haha... I really get the wrong idea earlier doh.gif laugh.gif

Alrite, I should test this thing out so I'll understand more clearly about it. eKai said he doesn't experience much playing around with CC apps, so I'm asking here in advance so I could try it after he installed the modchip for me at his place smile.gif.

@greyfox

Finally, I get my PS2 modded with Crystal-chip 2.0 Pro SLE from eKai smile.gif. However, he's not very familiar with CC modchips and applications thus he asked me to seek ur help smile.gif.

I dunno where he stopped but my PS2 now boot the BM application once I started up my PS2. However, I have no idea how to install other applications such as HDLoader, etc. into my HDD, MC or Flash drive? Please advise if I need to do everything all over again smile.gif

you need some file in your usbdrive or cd
you need ule.elf file & APPINFO.PBT

this guide to in stall it from usbdriver to mc (you can install it to hdd or what ever you want to put it)

1st get ule.elf than make pbt file
how to make pbt file open notepad  copy code in spoiler save as APPINFO.PBT
» Click to show Spoiler - click again to hide... «

put ule.elf file & APPINFO.PBT in usbdrive under x:\BM\APPS\ULE
x is your usbdrive

now plug your usbdrive to ps2 boot it up,
at bm
select application browser>install>usb hdd>mc
*
Alrites, thanks for the guide and steps. I'll try later today when I get home smile.gif.

However, now it remind me of the BM installed in the CC. I guess it is the default original which come along installed with the modchip. From PSX-Scene forum, I noticed a few package which I can choose...
    # The Official Software Release 34
    # The Hacked Software Release 34 (theAgent)
    # Jones23's Modified Hacked R34

and then there is this...
    # Yoc's Essential Pack for BM 2.1.x
    # Theagent's MegaPack release 2x

Izzit actually any of the above package installed is the same? Then, which is the best to pick? Somehow from observation and from what I read (doesn't understand much), many opts for ones23's Modified Hacked R34. Should I get this installed to my CC? And then only follow ur steps to install the uLE? unsure.gif

@greyfox

I had downloaded Jones23's Modified Hacked R34 firmware and installed to my CC. The bundle come along with ULE and SMS inside, so I already installed ULE to my MC as stated on the forum that it only works if run on MC on this particular Jones23's Modified Hacked R34. Then, how am I gonna launch and run HDLoader or other homebrews? I downloaded the HDLoader ELF from sksapps and used the APPINFO.PBT u posted earlier, but it only detected as LaunchELF in my USB HDD. Haha... guess I misunderstood somewhere and get myself lost. Just trying to explore it on my own but in the end failed... how am I gonna launch HDLoader sir tongue.gif

erm.

u have the hdloader.elf right?

if from uLe, just launch it from there, shoud be okay
*
Yups, I downloaded the HDLoader 8B ELF from sksapps and put in my flash drive (USB HDD) under folder BM\APPS\ULE as mentioned by greyfox along with the APPINFO.PBT file. I think now I understand what's my mistake... izzit I should run ULE from my MC and then select which ELF file to boot from there? sweat.gif *do correct me if I'm wrong, I'll only try later tonite*

BTW snipersnake, great to see u here smile.gif. eKai mentioned u very familiar with Matrix Infinity (MI) modchip. How can I configure the hdd to be detected as Sony HDD by the PS2 system? Any great apps to recommend? eKai just installed DMS HDD EXP on the HDD for my fren smile.gif

Yes.

to turn your hdd to sony's, u  need a mod with ATAD PATCH.

Turn it on the recovery menu. get the SONY HDD DISK from sksapps.

burn the disc(make sure use quality cdr, coz heave installation files)

turn on the ps2, and inster the disc. select format hdd.

but be warned, all your data will be lost.
*
Alrite, I'll try later today to see if I can get it works smile.gif

Oh, is there any extra feature being successfully mod it into SONY HDD? I heard beside playing backup games, can save games save into the HDD as well, rite? biggrin.gif Only that to be the extra feature? hmm.gif

Can CC modchip do so as well? huh.gif

Urm sifus and gurus? Can answer my question?

My fat PS2 is a bit sot sot already. Sometimes can play games sometimes not. It is modded. 5 years already and been repaired once. What is going on? My PS2 is coming to the end? NTSC/J.

Is PS2 is sensitive to voltage? I mean irregular voltage.
*
Probably ur cd/dvd drive or modchip is dying... time to implant a new one wink.gif Go look for him here: http://forum.lowyat.net/topic/311224

QUOTE(eek-1 @ Dec 1 2007, 01:03 AM)
My PS2 slim is starting to scratch discs.  Any game disc I put in the tray gets scratched on the outer side upon spinning.

Can the console be repaired?

LoL... drop ur message here as well http://forum.lowyat.net/topic/311224 biggrin.gif

QUOTE(yusry1985 @ Dec 1 2007, 02:08 AM)
sorry mr mod.. hmm.. repeating my question.. but little update after i read others forum.. where can i buy network adaptor for fat ps2 and also usb advance / usb extreme? and is when we buying a network adaptor, is there any other thing come with it or must buy also? (let see.. like add in card or something like that.)

if there is anyone from penang or kedah that know where i can get the spareparts for fat ps2.. mean like dvd lens or bla bla bla.. hoping all pro's guys here can answer my little Q here.. thanks in advance.
*
Well, another one looking for PS2 Network Adapter aka PS2 NA. Sad to say, but PS2 NA can be described as a rare product now which we could hardly get one, even the 2nd or 3rd hand as well. If u r in hurry, ur best pick would be Ebay and there are still plenty of them selling there smile.gif. Else if u doesn't wan to trouble with importing the product from Ebay, u gotta keep ur eyes on Garage Sales and Lelong.com.my, sometime there will be people selling out their precious gem when they're not into PS2 anymore wink.gif.

The PS2 NA come with an Internet Setup disc (can't remember properly the name), but not all with it and I'm not sure if any useful it can be. Says all that u wanted just play games on HDD, u'll need a PS2 NA, an IDE HDD (no WD) and HDLoader bootup disc (google urself for the ISO and then burn into disc biggrin.gif). That's all laugh.gif

QUOTE(emiya_shin @ Dec 1 2007, 05:09 PM)
Can I clean my PS2 lens with CD lens cleaner? It doesn't read any discs.

What is system configuration which is saved at my memory card?
*
I'm suppose u can do so, but better wait for higher level gurus to clarify on this tongue.gif.

The System Configuration in ur mem card is the one which store the settings u done at ur System Configuration & Browser Menu. Example changing the time, etc. wink.gif
