HDloader related question here.

I have followed all the steps required to get it working, but I am having trouble booting the CD ISOs burnt to CDR. Got the copies all over, after reading through thoroughly from the HDLoader thread. I have even consulted buddy member vearn27, and yet we are still clueless bout whats going on.

My problem is that the console doesnt recognise or boot the CD. On boot, it either goes to the Browser + System Configuration page or give me the RSOD. Using a SCPH39006 NTSC-J with Messiah.

Would appreciate if anyone can shine some light on this..

im not sure this will help you or not...
1. use good blank cdr like verbatim, mitsubishi...burn at the slowest speed
2. is the ISO create by yourself or download from other website? make sure you set correct LBA when creating ISO
3. your ps2 mod support CD-R ?unsure.gif
4. ps2 LENS still ok?

redtiger, thanks for ur reply.

Q1. Yeap, verbatim gold..slowest speed at 4x
Q2. Tried both, even those upped by tot31 on ps2hd
Q3. Yes
Q4. Yes, still playing games. very much alive n kicking.

I came across some post where some ppl would have the same problem. Not many, but the closest thing I can think of would be adding some dummy file in order for the lense to read it. Tried that, but still no results.

Currently down to last 2 options. Trying out HDA 3.0 and if it aint working, going to try it on another console.
*
hmm...thats weird, better try that on other console or try different brand of CDR, good luck thumbup.gif

hi phobian,

you are facing 2 problem here,
1. your ps2 didnt boot your hdl cdr, RSOD or stop at browser screen

have numerous copies of tot31's link to HDL0.7c iso but seems like my console could not read it. Went straight to the system browser menu. I even tried putting a 200MB dummy file into it, but the CD turned out to be coasters. Googled again for some pointers, but all of em just hinted to put in dummy file -- but didnt say exactly how to go bout it. Anyone can help here?
possible cause : lens problem, ISO + cdr media + burning problem, modchip problem

by the way, i never use dummy file, i just put big AVI video when creating ISO , hehehe, they boot fine

2.
finally able to boot some cdr, but stuck in HDloader splash screen???

QUOTE(phobian)
Right now, I hv tested both HDA3.0 & HDL(ps2ownz,200mb version). Both also have the same problem where it will get stuck at the splash screen. Gotta hit the eject button and get the disc out when the splash screen comes along, then only I can proceed to the game selection menu. Tried formatting the harddisk using full, partial & quick mode but to none avail. Even tried it on 2 hdd, maxtor & seagate.

possible cause : the HDLPatch patching option...some option will not work properly on certain console (option conflict), i cannot confirm this...need help from sifu too notworthy.gif
do you have the original HDL elf?
are you using winhiip to format the hdd? what version?

redtiger, thanks for the helping note..

How do u add the video file in to the ISO? I notice that the 0.7c ISO is bout 1MB+, but when extract to a folder..it reports bout 600+kb.
I did the following with the dummy file, not sure if its right..but m hoping if u can pinpoint where I might took the wrong step.

1. extract hdl0.7c iso to a folder using ISObuster
2. Use CDGenPS2v3 to create new image. Put the following by order to the image -- system.cnf, hdl_official.elf & lastly, dummy file 200mb.
3. Proceed to Alcohol120 to burn the image using the slowest speed, 4x.

Tried it with Nero, no go as well.

I dont think I have the original HDL Elf as my copy is by ps2ownz, which I believe it has been cracked.

Using WinHiip 1.7.3.

hmm...you didnt mention about fix the LBA of SYSTEM.CNF to 12231, this might be the problem sweat.gif
you must fix the LBA of SYSTEM.CNF to 12231 using cdgenPS2, or else it wont boot
also remember to set your HDD to master before plug it to network adaptor

btw, you got a pm, download the 0.7C ISO, custom make for you smile.gif , if you want to try yourself, you can take out the SLUS_203.44 and SYSTEM.CNF and all the dummy file and rebuild yourself

simple step, drag all the files you want, dummy or big files first, then most important SYSTEM.CNF and SLUS_203.44 from explorer to cdgenPS2, fix LBA SYSTEM.CNF to 12231
(NOTE : actually dummy or other files should put last, but since your lens is a bit wierd, so try put them first sweat.gif )

my ps2 model is 39001 NTSC/UC, i think it is almost same as yours, good luck thumbup.gif

What brand dvd blank can read at PS2? Which one good to buy - or + and speed 4x?8x?
*
verbatim, mitsubishi, taiyo yuden...i use + only, some machine read - only, if your ps2 read +, then use it

QUOTE(Snake @ Nov 8 2005, 02:22 PM)
oic, i currently buying dvd5 or dvd9 onli, this kind dvd sure cant work ah ? smile.gif
*
dvd5 is single layer, dvd9 is dual layer, nothing to do with region, most "that" dvd is region free, can be read by ps2, but i recommend not to play on ps2

snipersnake, I couldnt agree more with u tat this community sure is warm and willing to lend a helping hand. Thumbs up for everybody! thumbup.gif

tot31, I did just tat except for renaming the dummy file to DUMMY.BIN.

redtiger, I would assume the ISO u sent to me works flawlessly for u? If it is so, then no point for me to re-compile it isnt it.

Hence, I gotta try out the following:-
1. tot31's approach, recompile 0.7c with 100mb DUMMY.BIN
2. redtiger's ISO
3. redtiger's ISO, recompile ISO, fix LBA of system.cnf to 12231 & dummy files first.
*
ahaha, yup, you can burn it directly

I can confirm that bluechip modchip does not support any homebrew applications, so whoever can't load hdloader your modchip is most probably a bluechip. I've tested 2 machines with bluechip and both failed to load hdloader, usbadvance and any other homebrew applications.
*
maybe phobian ps2 have this chip sad.gif , no news from him too...
hey tot31, you might have new customer soon brows.gif

my brother bought a dvd(ps2) full of mario collection.....
more like an emulator to me

so, is't safe to play it for long/short period, will it harm my ps2 lens.....?
*
most emulator load the whole ROM into memory and run from there, even got reading also very few, unless the emulated platform is CD TYPE like SEGA SATURN, PS1, DREAMCAST, so i dont think it will hurt your lense

i remember that i play PS2 version of Metal Slug 5, take out the DVD still able to complete the game laugh.gif

correct me if im wrong notworthy.gif
