I have the SCPH39006-J, and it has no problem booting up the HDloader. It could be your lens sad.gif.

If it's messiah(real or cloned).. just hold on to the power button before you switch on the PS2 until the blue light of the reset button lid up.. then let go.. Normally i hold it until the "Sony Computer Entertainment" word came on the screen. This i believe is to switch off the modchip (or put to sleep).

I normally do that when i watch DVD or play PS1 game.. if i didn't do that ... the DVD cannot play at all.

But finally, i think it's not recommended to watch DVD on PS2 coz it might wear the lens faster, since DVD is like constant reading one..

And if the above method doesn't work for you, u can have a look here.. some intruction on the type of modchip..(like what to press to watch DVD..and etc). The site is pretty old so newer modchip isn't listed.

i bought the chip from the US and installed it myself. i did inquire luke of infinitymod.com about this problem and so far backups for all the games worked however this is pirated games we're talking about. he told me to send him the dvd but i don't think i'm gonna send the dvd. anyway as long as only one brand that gives me the problem, its fine. just have to look at the dvd first b4 buying. that particular brand still gave me the RSOD. but only affects the newer games.

thanks

Hey man, remember i had the RSOD problem like u did ? I actually use DVDDecrypter and install the game ISO to the HDD and the game can now boot flawlessly. The only draw back though if the game isn't HDLoade compatible... which means .. i can't play my shadow of collossus..... doh.gif

I just finish transfering a 4 gig plus game iso... and roughly about 6 - 7 minutes.. using IDE to USB 2.0 and winhiip.

oo.. then I should use winhiip already.. didn't know one game take 30 mins pulak doh.gif

lucky I got IDE to USB2.o also hehehe/

but does HD loader support ISO files? as in just one iso files?
*
For my case ... i think because my notebook combo drive cannot see the actual content of the PS2 DVD game (only certain game... but mostly newer games, i can't see the content), i use the DVDDecrypter to decrypt the game into an ISO image... then i append the image to Nero ImageDrive ... and then i use winhiip to transfer the image to the HDD.

Playing any game, DVD on the long run will harm the lens sooner or later. Your PS2 Slimline ?
