HDloader related question here.

I have followed all the steps required to get it working, but I am having trouble booting the CD ISOs burnt to CDR. Got the copies all over, after reading through thoroughly from the HDLoader thread. I have even consulted buddy member vearn27, and yet we are still clueless bout whats going on.

My problem is that the console doesnt recognise or boot the CD. On boot, it either goes to the Browser + System Configuration page or give me the RSOD. Using a SCPH39006 NTSC-J with Messiah.

Would appreciate if anyone can shine some light on this..

redtiger, thanks for ur reply.

Q1. Yeap, verbatim gold..slowest speed at 4x
Q2. Tried both, even those upped by tot31 on ps2hd
Q3. Yes
Q4. Yes, still playing games. very much alive n kicking.

I came across some post where some ppl would have the same problem. Not many, but the closest thing I can think of would be adding some dummy file in order for the lense to read it. Tried that, but still no results.

Currently down to last 2 options. Trying out HDA 3.0 and if it aint working, going to try it on another console.

Just to update, it is a console problem. I used it on another console, load both HDLoader 0.6 & HDA 3.0 and it worked like a charm.

Funny thing is that both the consoles were bought from the same place, more a less the same time but one can read CDR while the other could not. Lens problem? Or does anyone of u have the same problem? Both the consoles are SCPH39006 which have been used for almost 3yrs.

I have the SCPH39006-J, and it has no problem booting up the HDloader. It could be your lens sad.gif.

It is definitely the lens. I came across a post on other sites stating that we can tune the density of the laser lens as it pose to age as time passes by. Does anyone know whether if it can DIY or better be done by a pro? Tried googling for a proper tutorial, but all turned out very vague.

dude..how u know the modchip is messiah? may i know how u boot 'normal' game?
*
I cant say for sure, as it is the shopkeeper's word against mine though which 3 units was purchased at the same shop at the same frequency of time. Pardon my ignorance, as I would assume it is on Messiah -- the early version I believe.

Boot up? Like the very normal.

1. Power on.
2. Eject tray & insert disc
3. Hit the power button again and voila!

Right now, I hv tested both HDA3.0 & HDL(ps2ownz,200mb version). Both also have the same problem where it will get stuck at the splash screen. Gotta hit the eject button and get the disc out when the splash screen comes along, then only I can proceed to the game selection menu. Tried formatting the harddisk using full, partial & quick mode but to none avail. Even tried it on 2 hdd, maxtor & seagate.

I have numerous copies of tot31's link to HDL0.7c iso but seems like my console could not read it. Went straight to the system browser menu. I even tried putting a 200MB dummy file into it, but the CD turned out to be coasters. Googled again for some pointers, but all of em just hinted to put in dummy file -- but didnt say exactly how to go bout it. Anyone can help here?

Snipersnake,

Thanks for the heads up.

Can I certify that the console can read CDR as I have tested HDA3.0, HDL psownz 200mb & ARMAX all on CDR? It is reading flawlessly..

redtiger, thanks for the helping note..

How do u add the video file in to the ISO? I notice that the 0.7c ISO is bout 1MB+, but when extract to a folder..it reports bout 600+kb.
I did the following with the dummy file, not sure if its right..but m hoping if u can pinpoint where I might took the wrong step.

1. extract hdl0.7c iso to a folder using ISObuster
2. Use CDGenPS2v3 to create new image. Put the following by order to the image -- system.cnf, hdl_official.elf & lastly, dummy file 200mb.
3. Proceed to Alcohol120 to burn the image using the slowest speed, 4x.

Tried it with Nero, no go as well.

I dont think I have the original HDL Elf as my copy is by ps2ownz, which I believe it has been cracked.

Using WinHiip 1.7.3.

redtiger, downloading the file now. will give it a try later. Really appreciate it.

snipersnake, vearn27's console and the 2 consoles that I have was bought at the same place and at the same time. I have reconfirmed with him whether if he can boot the 0.7c ISO as is without dummy files and to my surprise -- his console boots up flawlessly.

snipersnake, I couldnt agree more with u tat this community sure is warm and willing to lend a helping hand. Thumbs up for everybody! thumbup.gif

tot31, I did just tat except for renaming the dummy file to DUMMY.BIN.

redtiger, I would assume the ISO u sent to me works flawlessly for u? If it is so, then no point for me to re-compile it isnt it.

Hence, I gotta try out the following:-
1. tot31's approach, recompile 0.7c with 100mb DUMMY.BIN
2. redtiger's ISO
3. redtiger's ISO, recompile ISO, fix LBA of system.cnf to 12231 & dummy files first.

thats weird ... im cant even watch a single DVD b4, is the way im operate the ps 2 wrong ?  i heard my frens sayin need to restart many times.

Hmm, I could watch most of Uncle Ho's DVDs with very lill problems. Except for those that is badly pressed DVDs could not be played on the console, but it works for the DVD player.

This could also mean that ur lense might be out of sync and requires some cleaning and tuning. There is a guide on how to go bout this just couple of post before this. U might wanna check it out, and if it works -- take the 80 buckaroos and buy us a cuppa drink. wink.gif

Heya mates.

Tentatively m quite tied up with work. Hence, didnt have the chance to lay my hands on the console yet.

Blue chip..red chip..sounds jargon to me though. LOL!

But rite now, I would use the splash screen-ejecto method to load HDL/A. When i see the splash screen, eject the tray, take out disc and voila.

Shadow of Colossus is not supported on HDL, so it seems..
